Sick boy :(

Jax woke up at 4 AM asking if I would lay in his bed. When I got to his room, he was so hot. His temp was over 103, and since Jaxon's body temp naturally runs low, 103 is pretty high for him. He was so congested and within minutes he was throwing up from the congestion. It was more dry heaves than anything, but anytime he's congested, it upsets his tummy. We decided that I would take him in as soon as the clinic opened since he had been complaining about chest pains. If it had just been a normal cough/fever, we would have just rested, but the chest pains worried us.

Jax threw up again in the car on the way to the clinic. Thank goodness it was once again mostly dry heaves and mucus. I had extra blankets in the car and he always warns us when he's going to do it, so I just threw the blankets to him. No mess to clean up! I made sure we were at the clinic a few minutes early to be first in line. We were in luck - first in line and Jaxon's pediatrician was there! He works only a few Saturdays a year - I guess we picked the right weekend for Jax to be sick.

Jax was so weak - he would not walk/stand. Even our doctor was shocked with how weak he was. We did chest xrays due to the chest pains and we also had xrays of his sinuses. The chest xrays actually came back clear (yeah!) but the sinus ones looked terrible. So we are treating him for a sinus infection.

Our pharmacy is hooked onto the clinic, and as we were leaving to get his prescription, Jax asked if we could do drive through because he couldn't stand. Poor kid. :(

He got sick again just as we were pulling into the driveway, but I got him out of the car in time. He spent almost the entire day on the couch or in his bed. We needed him to eat so he could take some medicine....I even offered him chips and ice cream and it was still a no. He finally gave in and ate some cereal. He took a 4 hour nap that afternoon.

The saddest part was that we had to postpone his birthday party with his friends. He cried for about 20 seconds and then said "okay" and went back to sleep. We rescheduled for this weekend instead. :)

Jaxon has been so healthy since his birthday last year! This is really the first time that he has been sick since last September (other than his allergies and one summer evening with a low fever). Unfortunately, September has always been a tough month for him. Right after his 1st birthday, he was hospitalized with pneumonia and then hypothermia, right before his 2nd birthday he had sepsis and we took an ambulance ride and had a hospital stay, and right before his 4th birthday he had bronchitis. Fortunately, this time it was just a sinus infection (which is still miserable), but definitely easier to get over than pneumonia and bronchitis.

He was much better by Sunday morning (still coughing a lot), but had a lot of energy, and he was great by the time Monday morning rolled around!

Knock on wood, but our kids have been very healthy for the last 3 years. The girls haven't missed any school in the last two years, and Jax has only missed for bronchitis last September! I sure hope we continue to stay healthy!
