Sick boy :(

Jax woke up at 4 AM asking if I would lay in his bed. When I got to his room, he was so hot. His temp was over 103, and since Jaxon's body temp naturally runs low, 103 is pretty high for him. He was so congested and within minutes he was throwing up from the congestion. It was more dry heaves than anything, but anytime he's congested, it upsets his tummy. We decided that I would take him in as soon as the clinic opened since he had been complaining about chest pains. If it had just been a normal cough/fever, we would have just rested, but the chest pains worried us.

Jax threw up again in the car on the way to the clinic. Thank goodness it was once again mostly dry heaves and mucus. I had extra blankets in the car and he always warns us when he's going to do it, so I just threw the blankets to him. No mess to clean up! I made sure we were at the clinic a few minutes early to be first in line. We were in luck - first in line and Jaxon's pediatrician was there! He works only a few Saturdays a year - I guess we picked the right weekend for Jax to be sick.

Jax was so weak - he would not walk/stand. Even our doctor was shocked with how weak he was. We did chest xrays due to the chest pains and we also had xrays of his sinuses. The chest xrays actually came back clear (yeah!) but the sinus ones looked terrible. So we are treating him for a sinus infection.

Our pharmacy is hooked onto the clinic, and as we were leaving to get his prescription, Jax asked if we could do drive through because he couldn't stand. Poor kid. :(

He got sick again just as we were pulling into the driveway, but I got him out of the car in time. He spent almost the entire day on the couch or in his bed. We needed him to eat so he could take some medicine....I even offered him chips and ice cream and it was still a no. He finally gave in and ate some cereal. He took a 4 hour nap that afternoon.

The saddest part was that we had to postpone his birthday party with his friends. He cried for about 20 seconds and then said "okay" and went back to sleep. We rescheduled for this weekend instead. :)

Jaxon has been so healthy since his birthday last year! This is really the first time that he has been sick since last September (other than his allergies and one summer evening with a low fever). Unfortunately, September has always been a tough month for him. Right after his 1st birthday, he was hospitalized with pneumonia and then hypothermia, right before his 2nd birthday he had sepsis and we took an ambulance ride and had a hospital stay, and right before his 4th birthday he had bronchitis. Fortunately, this time it was just a sinus infection (which is still miserable), but definitely easier to get over than pneumonia and bronchitis.

He was much better by Sunday morning (still coughing a lot), but had a lot of energy, and he was great by the time Monday morning rolled around!

Knock on wood, but our kids have been very healthy for the last 3 years. The girls haven't missed any school in the last two years, and Jax has only missed for bronchitis last September! I sure hope we continue to stay healthy!

Celebrating with Justin's family

After the homecoming game, we all went to get ice cream and to celebrate Jaxon's birthday with Justin's parents and grandparents!

Jax LOVES his new legos! This kid plays with legos constantly!

Right as we were finishing up, Jax had a pretty bad coughing spell. He had had a cough for a few days, and we thought some of it might be allergies, but we were pretty sure it wasn't all allergies. He started to complain about his chest really hurting as he was coughing. So, we knew it was time to get home and get him to bed to rest.

Last Friday was SFC Homecoming! I always miss the parade and the family festival, but I think Justin and the girls had a good time!

We went to the football game that night ... Jax was the tee boy, and the girls cheered! My parents, Justin's parents, and Justin's grandparents all came too!

Jax LOVED being on the field with all of the players (and I think his daddy did too)!

Warming up before the game ... Jordyn is on the bottom right in this picture ...

First time on the job -- and he did great!!

More cheering! Jayla is in the back ...

SFC won the game 45-0, so it's safe to say that Jaxon stayed busy being the tee boy!

What a fun night!

Catching up ... again!

I am hoping that this weekend I will get caught up on the blog. In the last two weeks we have had volleyball, homecoming, cheer camp, Jax was the tee boy at the homecoming game, Jax turned 5 ... and got sick, GEMS started ... we've been busy. So until I'm caught up, I'll leave you with one of my favorite pictures that my sister took a couple of weeks ago. :)

A weekend in MN!

Last Saturday afternoon (well actually two Saturdays go since I'm finally getting around to finishing this post) we headed to MN to see my sisters, take family pictures and celebrate Calvin's birthday!

I went three months without seeing this little girl, and now I have seen her three weekends in a row.

We took family pictures (another post for another day ...), and then we headed out for supper with the crew!

On Sunday we went to church. My parents and aunt met us there, and then we celebrated Calvin's birthday before heading back home on Sunday afternoon.

A few headstands ... Grandpa helped out, and now Jayla can do them on her own. :)

Looks like Justin and Megan will have some new competition with their head stands!

We had fun playing at the park for Calvin's birthday!

Grandpa got a little wiffle ball game going ...

It was a great weekend! We headed home that afternoon and had Jade, Megan and the boys over football and pizza!
