Candlelight Service

I found one other post that I forgot to finish from a about a week ago. :) We went to the Candlelight Service at our church on the Sunday night before Christmas.

We took a few pictures before church ...

I swear taking a picture of our three kids is one of the most difficult things. I snapped over 50 pictures, and we finally gave in to Jax and let him sit on the giraffe. Ha!

Jax only purposely blew out the candle two times during the service -- but he did better at the second candlelight service we went to at my parents' church on Christmas Eve -- he only blew that one out once. I call it success that we made it through two candlelight services and didn't burn anything but the candle. :)

Jordyn's Gingerbread House!

I just realized that I had forgotten to post this a few weeks ago! Jordyn's kindergarten class made gingerbread houses. I was so bummed that I couldn't be there -- my class was making them on the same day at the exact same time, so I couldn't go. Justin and Jordyn had fun though, and Justin sent me many pictures from their morning.

She even had a basketball hoop!

So many of friends were there ... a little bit of goofiness from Jade ...

(Megan and Justin P. are also in the picture.) :)

Jayla will get to do it next year -- maybe I'll get to go then. :)

One more Christmas celebration!

There was actually one celebration in between the one at my parent's house and the one in this post, but apparently I didn't take a single picture. :( Our kids had had two long, busy days, and by the time we got to Justin's grandparent's house on Thursday night, they were wild and tired. I'm bummed that I didn't take a single picture. However - we still loved spending time with family and had a lot of fun!

Then the 26th we went to my aunt's house to celebrate with my dad's side.

The kids were excited to be together again (and please ignore some fuzzy pictures).

Jordyn was laying down the rules with Eric in Princess UNO!

Grandpa, Ryleigh and Jordyn ...

... and Jayla too ...

The kids were being so silly on the steps! (and my phone was taking the worst pictures ... and I forgot the good camera at home)

Then I borrowed my aunt's camera, but the kids weren't quite as cooperative. :)

Another fun night with family! And ... we made it through all of the Christmas celebrations! :)

Christmas with my family!

We woke up on Christmas morning ... tired! Jordyn has been battling a cough for a few days, and she coughed so hard through the night. I stayed up with her, and she finally stopped coughing from about 2 AM to 7 AM. Poor thing! However, even though we were tired, we were all excited it was Christmas!

A little bit of silliness with Calvin ... (photobomb by Jordyn!)

... and Jaxon ...

It was little bit of chaos opening gifts again ... this time with 6 kids ... a 6 year old, 4 year old, 3 year old and three 2 year olds, but it was fun!!!

Ready to see what Santa brought them!!
(Since Jordyn and I were up half of the night, we tracked Santa on my phone ... once he was in Iowa, we tried to fall asleep!!)

I didn't take a ton of pictures, but Santa brought Jaxon a "trim" as he calls it (a trimmer like Daddy uses on the grass), and the girls each got an outfit with a matching one for their AmericanGirl Doll.

I love the look on Jordyn and Jayla's faces! They got a new storage cart for all of their art supplies!

The kids all stayed calm for a little while with their ipads. :) I don't love "screen time," but I do appreciate the kids calming down for 15-30 minutes with them!!

Ryleigh ...

... and Logan and Jaxon ... love this picture!!

Justin and Calvin did a puzzle together ...

Matching outfits!!

This was the only picture Jayla let us take of her in the matching outfits. :)

We had a great time with my family -- and again, left feeling very spoiled!

On Christmas afternoon, we packed up and headed to another Christmas with Justin's extended family on his mom's side!

Christmas Eve Night

We arrived in George a few minutes earlier than we had planned, and we knew that church was half over, but we decided to try to sneak in and join my family. This was a total last minute decision that we hadn't even talked about until we were two miles from town. The choir was doing their cantata, and my dad was the reader. We were not dressed for church and we had a very stern talk with the kids about how we would enter with absolutely no talking. My mom, sisters, Josh, Eric and Calvin were in the second to back row and had a bit of space by them so we crammed in with them. BJ, Devin and the twins were just across the aisle and the girls could have sat with them if we needed. I am so glad we went for those last 30 minutes. The candlelight service is one of my very favorite things about Christmas - and we actually went to two this year! It was also fun to surprise my dad -- he didn't know we were there until he came to our side to light our row's candles.

I snapped just a couple of pictures while we were there. :)

Afterwards we went to Oma's house! My whole family was there, as was my mom's brother's family. This is the first time that we have ever all been together since having kids ... so I made sure to get a picture of Oma and all of the great grandkids! We are just missing two -- I have a cousin with a little girl in CO, and my cousin's wife, Jessica, is also pregnant right now.

I realize these pictures aren't great, but we were working with 15 kids (most 6 and under) ... who were past bedtime, but we still wanted to capture the all together. :)

Our kids have four great-grandparents ... what a blessing! They love spending time with all of them!!!

Oma and Jayla ...

Oma and Jordyn ...

We ate (again ... way too much) ... and then headed to my parent's house to sleep. I am so glad we were able to spend some time with my cousins!
