Birthday Party!

We celebrated Justin's birthday and Jordyn's birthday with our families last weekend. We had a great time!

Jordyn wanted a Jake and the Neverland Pirates cake. I did a little checking around and nobody could make it. I like making the kids' cakes, so I was excited after doing a little looking online that this easy idea showed up! I put my own little touches on it, but it was nice to have a general idea to go with!

I made a beach scene (crushed vanilla cookies) with "golden blooms" (fake gold coins) and jewels (ring pops), and little Jake figures. The water was blue sugar. Jordyn was pretty excited with how the cake turned out!

She had a great time openings cards/presents!

Great Grandpa Gerry and Jaxon playing. (and Gizmo snuggling with Grandpa Gerry -- Gizmo loves Grandpa Gerry!)

Snuggling with Grandma Ronda ... Jordyn got a new robe and slippers. :)

I was trying to take a picture of the cake ... lately, one of Jayla's favorite things is to get right in front of the camera as we try to take a picture. :)

Jordyn also got a new nightgown that had a matching one for her baby. She has been pretty excited about them matching every night!

The party was fun! Thanks to our parents, all of our grandparents, and my aunt, uncle and cousin for coming! :)

Carving Pumpkins!

We decided to carve some of our pumpkins on Saturday morning. Each year this task gets a little easier with the kids! :) In fact, it was super easy this year. All three kids loved it, and in one hour we had carved 5 pumpkins and had everything cleaned up!

We tried to get a picture of the three kids before we started ... these pictures make me laugh, because it is a true picture of their personalities. :)

I love Jaxon's facial expressions in the next two pictures!

The finished pumpkins ... a face, UNI, a heart, a J and ghosts ... they will look much better once they are lit up, but since we carved them in the morning, we didn't try to take a picture of them lit up. We'll do that on Halloween. :)

Exciting News!!

We have some exciting news in our family! Josh and Kayla are engaged! Whew ...we  all managed to keep the proposal a secret! Josh had many surprises for Kayla .. a surprise trip to Colorado, a surprise with her best friend being there, a surprise proposal, a surprise video with all of us congratulating them, and we all surprised them at the Minneapolis airport when they got home on Sunday!

Since we made plans to be at the airport on Sunday when they arrived home, we made a whole weekend of it! We left early Saturday morning and headed to Owatonna. We got to meet up with one of my best friends, Nichole, for lunch. Nichole and I taught together when we lived in Owatonna. She was mentor and became my best friend after just days of teaching together. We see each other about twice year (always for very short amounts of time), but we can always pick up right where we left off. I love that about our friendship! Nichole, her husband and her two boys met us for lunch -- at McDonald's. :) We knew our kids would be ready to run after being in a car for three hours. While our lunch was quick and a bit chaotic, I am so thankful that we were able to get together with Nichole and her family!

After lunch, we headed to the outlet mall to a couple of stores and then we continued on to the cities. We went to Darin and Kathryn's house. We played for a while, and then we headed to Mall of America. It had been about a year since we had been there. This was the first time we had gone and not had all of our kids in strollers. It honestly made me a nervous wreck. It's such a busy place (with some creeps too), and even though we had extra hands and extra eyes (Justin's parents were with us, as well as Darin and Kathryn), it still made me nervous.

We didn't do any shopping -- just had the kids go on a few rides, which they loved. :)

Jordyn is in the second "window" with her arm up. :)

I got all three kids looking ... and wouldn't you know it, Justin turned to look at something else. Ha! :)

On Sunday, we headed to an indoor park with Justin's parents, Darin, Kathryn and Miles. What an awesome place! I didn't take the camera in though, and the lighting wasn't great so my cell phone pictures didn't really turn out. The kids had so much fun though running around! Then we headed to lunch and a couple of stores. We said good-bye to Justin's family and headed to the airport. My parents, Kandi, Eric, Calvin, Josh's dad and some friends of Josh and Kayla's were all at the airport to greet them! I didn't take any pictures, but it was so fun to see the surprise in Kayla's face when she realized we were all there!!

Then we headed to Mankato and had supper with my family! It was a nice break for the kids to get out of the car again. Then it was time for the rest of the ride home. Jayla fell asleep at 6:30 in the car, and slept until 5:45 the next morning! Jax fell asleep in the car at 7:00 and slept until 5:45 the next morning! They had each taken naps during the day as well, but they played so hard whenever we weren't in the car, and they were exhausted!

Our weekend was packed full, but we had a lot of fun!

Congratulations Josh and Kayla! We are so excited for you! :)
