Jaxon ~ 11 Months

I can't believe that next month when I write Jaxon's post, it will be to celebrate his 1st Birthday!

He did not want to sit still in his crib for his picture - I snapped two pictures super fast with the help of Jayla trying to entertain him. :)

Jaxon ...

... weighs about 25 pounds, wears mostly 18-month clothes, size 5 shoes, and size 4 diapers.

... is no longer a walker - he is pretty much a runner! He continues to be on the go constantly!

... loves his sisters! He thinks they are so funny, and they can make him laugh so hard. I just love watching how much those three love each other!

... is now into dancing. It's super cute! He claps and bobs up and down - always with the biggest smile on his face!

... can throw quite a fit when he doesn't get what he wants. He throws himself down on the floor - much Jayla did (or still does at times). He is a lot like Jayla!

... wants to play with every toy that his sisters play with. That doesn't always make them too happy!

... loves food! He will eat about anything that we give him. He no longer eats baby oatmeal. He loved eating that, but he woke up one morning and refused it, and after several days of refusing it, I decided we were done with it. He still drinks 6 ounces of formula 4-6 times a day. I am so hopeful that his transition to whole milk will go as smoothly as it did with the girls. I think it's funny though that he has been drinking 6 ounces of formula since he was about 4 months old! Some nights he wants more like 8-10 ounces before bedtime, but other than that, it hasn't really increased since he was 4 months old!

... likes to play with bats, balls, and musical toys.

... thinks it is funny when we put him on the trampoline. He loves to crawl around!

... continues to be a good sleeper. He might wake up one or two times and just need his paci, but he's doing well!

... loves to snuggle with his blanket. He has one blanket that he just loves, and it calms him down.

... loves daycare and definitely has some favorite teachers. His face lights up when he sees them!

Happy 11-Months, Jax!!

Our New Toy!

We made it through our first week of school! It wasn't exactly an easy one, but we made it! :) I have a great class and the start of our year has went well. Jordyn has been a bit under the weather for 9 nine days now, and that has made things a bit challenging. She has some bug ... no fever, no vomiting, just diarrhea. For 9 days in a row. We've talked to the nurse twice, and she was able to go to daycare everyday, but she needed to come home early on Friday. Just when we think she's getting better, she takes a step back. She hasn't had  any milk for the last 7 days, and she's eating pretty bland foods. Thankfully, she is eating and drinking a lot - she loves pedialyte! We think that Jayla is now starting with it too. Ugh! Poor kids.

We did buy the kids a fun new trampoline this last week. Even though they haven't felt the best, the girls have sure had a BLAST on the trampoline. Jayla has spent the most time on it since she has really been healthy.

Jordyn has jumped on the trampoline, just not as much due to the tummy issues.

Today we let the kids swim, and they had so much fun! It had been a few weeks since the last time they swam.

Week two of school starts tomorrow. We are adjusting to our super early wake up times, rushing through the morning routines, and the kids and I heading out the door at 6:30. They are enjoying daycare full-time, but we are all exhausted by the time we get home.

Preschool

Jordyn started a new year of preschool on Monday. Our preschool goes year-round, but she only went 2 days each week during the summer.  Jordyn has a new teacher. She is super excited about having Ms. Arneson as her teacher. We will miss Miss VcVay though!

Here's a few pictures of Jordyn on the first day. She loves to pose - but she also gets super squinty when she does it. :)

Jordyn loves everything about school. She has been able to recognize all of her letters (uppercase and lowercase) and her numbers for quite a while. She's a smart 3 year old! She's working on hard on writing all of her letters and can write part of her name. :) She has an incredible memory and easily remembers things from over a year ago. She completely surprises us with information all the time!

She loves seeing her friends everyday and she also loves to teach Jayla what she learns. Jordyn has been working on teaching Jayla her colors. It's so cute!

We are so glad that Jordyn loves school so much!

Quick Zoo Trip

Due to the super hot temps this summer, we hardly went to the zoo. It was just too hot! However, Saturday was beautiful (after the rain) so we made a quick trip there.

The girls love the grizzly bear! It's crazy how large that thing is!

And then ... we thought we could get some pictures of the three kids. Ha! Why would we ever think that?! :)

Just another photo shoot with the Overmans ....

Jordyn is in a stage that she loves to have her picture taken. She loves to pose!

Look closely ... Jayla stuck her tongue out in this picture! We almost had one of the two of them!

Summer is officially over. Today was the first day of school with students. The day went smoothly in my classroom ... but before school ... not so much. Jaxon threw up his entire bottle at 6 AM (all over him, the exersaucer and the carpet). We are pretty sure he gagged on a cheerio. Jordyn had a tummy ache. But - everyone made it through the day, and Jayla said she had a "happy day." (Last week she told us she had some "grouchy days" so we were thrilled to hear it was a happy day!)

Jayla ~ 2 Years 4 Months

She's another month older!

What is new with Jayla?

Jayla ...

... weighs about 34 pounds, wears 2T-4T clothing, size 5 diapers, and size 8 shoes!

... has been paci-free for almost 2 weeks! Her paci had a hole in it, so we took it away. Overall, she has done well. She's had three nights that we had to use it in the middle of the night due to uncontrollable screaming (I've never seen/heard anything like it), and the paci stopped it immediately. We took the paci away from her though before she woke up.

... talks nonstop now that the paci is gone. She was quite impressive with how well she could speak with the paci in her mouth, but now she talks all of the time. We love hearing her voice.

... loves to go on a "Bear Hunt" at school. "Bear Hunts" and "The Bounce Song" are her two very favorite things to do at school. She asks (begs?) her teacher everyday to do them. Poor Miss Maggie - I bet she gets sick of doing them! :)

... can count to 20! She shocked me completely! Jayla hasn't always been so open about everything she knows ... she can be sneaky about what she knows. Clearly she's been "hiding" that she knew how to count to 20!

... loves to sing and do the actions to the songs on our Bible school CD in the van. It's so cute to watch her in the van!

... recognizes many different places as we drive by them in town ... our church, Mommy's school (she calls it by name), Jordyn's school, Greenwall (Walgreens) just to name a few. I laugh every time we drive by our church - she yells "Hi Church!" She can also recognize every McDonald's that we drive by ... is that a problem?! :)

... enjoys jumping on the trampoline, playing on the slide, and blowing bubbles.

...  loves to play the monkey game and a shape game on our ipad.

... enjoys watching Bubble Guppies and Sesame Street.

... loves to sit and read books. Her favorites are Goodnight Moon and Goodnight Gorilla.

... can make Jaxon laugh harder than anyone else. He thinks she is the funniest person around! It's so cute! :)

We love you, Jayla! :)

Summer is Ending

I still can't believe that our summer has come to an end! I have been officially back to work since Tuesday. I worked for a few hours every day last week, but our first contract day was Tuesday. We had Open House on Tuesday night, and the students start on Monday. Wow, the summer sure flew by!

We are still trying to enjoy every bit of nice weather though!

We went to the lake this past weekend. The girls (and Jax joined in too) had a tea party ...

I was trying to get the girls to smile, which they didn't want to, so Grandpa Marlin said he would smile for me. :)

I just love these sweet faces ...

It was a little cooler last weekend, but it was still nice to be at the lake. We took the girls on a short paddle boat ride ...

... took a quick trip to Arnold's Park ...

... and spent a little time at the beach!

Justin's parents offered to watch the kids on Saturday night for us so that we could have an evening out. We had so much fun!!!

It was so nice to go out for a little while. Things have been so crazy and Justin had been out of town for 10 out of 13 days, so we enjoyed a little kid-free time!

Our friends, Jade and Megan, met up with us. We had a blast!! :)

On our way home from the lake we stopped and visited my parents for a little while. Even though it was cold outside, the girls insisted on playing outside with Grandpa Buzz! They had fun!

Now we are trying to adjust to full-time daycare and my work schedule ... which means getting up way earlier than we were use to! It also means I should probably stop staying up until midnight every night too! I have Friday off, and I plan to stay away from school and enjoy a three day weekend since I put in quite a bit of extra time last week and this week.

Oh how I wish the summer would have gone a little slower. :) However, I've had a great time spending time with some of my co-workers. We have laughed so hard, and I love being around them!
