Sky VBS 2012

Two weeks ago, the girls and I went to VBS for 5 nights! I helped with Jordyn's group. We had a great time, but 5 nights was a bit exhausting for 2 and 3 year olds! We didn't get home until almost 9:00 every night, so our bedtime routine was really off.

However, the girls had fun, and we are still singing VBS songs and yelling "No matter who you are, trust God!"

Our first night of VBS ... and the picture attempt was a bit unsuccessful. :)

Just a few random pictures from throughout the week. I didn't even think to bring my camera, so I just took these off the church website and from a friend ...

Since Jayla is just 2, her age group didn't so the same things as the other kids, but she sure did some wonderful things. :)

They made capes - and she proudly wears it here at home while she runs around the house!

Jordyn was really excited for the program - her grandparents were there to watch her and Aunt Kiki too. She was going to sing and dance ... and then 20 minutes before the program, she fell on the sidewalk and scraped her arm and knee. Total meltdown, and I hardly got her up there to sing.  Sweet Zachary held her hand ...

... and then look closely ... a she got bumped in the head (very lightly - I saw the whole thing), and that sent her into another total meltdown. I was in the front row and she came screaming to me. I did get her back up to sing a few other songs, but her excitement just wasn't there.

Wouldn't you know it, the second we got into the car that night she was singing and dancing.  Just a little stage fright. :)

I am so glad that we were able to be a part of VBS!

Jayla ~ 2 Years 2 Months

Jayla is another month older ... and I'm really late posting it. :)

She can be a total stinker when it comes to pictures! :) You will notice every picture has a different outfit - that's how many days I tried to get a picture of her!

When a 2 year old dresses herself, they pick out an outfit with flip flops and put on winter ugg boots. She looked adorable!

Finally - a true, adorable smile!

What is new with Jayla?

Jayla ...

... weighs about 33 pounds, wears mostly 2T and 3T clothing, size 5 diapers, and size 7 or 8 shoe. (She is almost the same size as Jordyn!)

... still has 16 teeth ... we are waiting on the last 4, but the dentist isn't concerned. It's so crazy how two kids can be so different. Jordyn had all 20 teeth by the time she was 14 months old. Jayla is over 2 years old and still has just 16!

... did great at her first trip to the dentist!

... loves to play with water. She can easily be entertained for more than hour playing with buckets and cups of water outside in our playhouse!

... loves to count to ten in English and Spanish and sing her ABC's! She does a great job!

... loves when Mommy sings Row Row and Itsy Bitsy Spider. Those are two of her favorite songs!

... made it through a week of VBS. She was a bit shy and overwhelmed the whole week, but she seemed to have fun! Now she loves to shout, "No matter who you are, trust God!" We love hearing it! She also loves to sing the VBS songs with her sister!

... loves to dance, jump, and run around! She is full of energy!!!

... loves to say "Can't get me!" and then takes off running! She thinks it's the best game. It's not so fun though when you're trying to change her clothes and she does it.

... picks out piles of books for us to read to her. One of her favorites is Goodnight Gorilla. I love how interested she is in reading books, since she had little to no interest in books until she was over a year old.

... is a paci hoarder! She still gets her paci - ugh, but again, there are bigger battles to pick some days. :) She also steals Jaxon's pacis and will often be running around the house with two or three pacis.

... enjoys going on stroller rides, playing at the park, chasing Gizmo, playing with Jordyn and Jax, and swimming.

We love you, Jayla Grace!

A Trip to the Dentist!

Jordyn and Jayla both went to the dentist this week. Jordyn had been there once, but this was Jayla's first trip there. The girls were super excited to go - I wish I would be half as excited as them when it's my turn to go! Ha!

I had Jordyn go first. I had talked to her about being brave and showing Jayla what to do. The second Jordyn sat in the chair she opened her mouth as wide as it could go. I started to laugh and told her she could wait until the hygienist told her to open.

She did great and smiled through the whole appointment! :)

I love our dentist office. It's all females that work there, which helps out my girls a lot!

Two thumbs up for no cavities!

Jayla was a little more nervous about her turn, so I actually had to hold her. I had the hygienist take a quick picture of Jayla. (So, since I held her the whole time, I was only able to get one picture.)

Jayla had zero cavities as well, and she was all smiles when she was done!

The girls were both excited about their new toothbrushes, toothpaste, princess floss and stickers that they got for being so brave!

I could not have asked for an easier trip to the dentist with Jordyn and Jayla. I was so proud of them! :)

Jordyn had her very first soccer practice last night! Can she really be old enough to play soccer?!?!

We signed her up a few weeks ago, and when we told her, she had a complete meltdown. She didn't want to play soccer and she was very upset about it. I'll never forget her screaming fit in the car as we talked about it. As we were driving down the interstate trying to calm her down, we told her that after soccer, she would get a juice box. Immediately, her response was, "Soccer! You signed me up for soccer! And I get a juice box! I'm so excited!" Justin and I just about died laughing!

A juice box ... it's the little things in life. :)

Our little soccer player ready for her first practice!

Night #1 of soccer was pretty successful. Jordyn did a great job and only had one little meltdown in the middle of the hour-long practice. I think the meltdown was partly due to the 90+ degrees it was outside! It was sooooo hot!

Since she's only 3, her practices basically consist of little activities - and a parent is required to play with them. Justin got the nomination for that one. :)

Check out that follow through! :)

Running to Daddy to get her soccer ball!

The parents had to "hide" from their child ... and Justin is super allergic to grass ... talk about a not-so-good feeling after being on the grass!

Using "binoculars" to find Daddy ...

These two were such troopers! They were miserable in the heat, but they both sat and ate snacks, played with toys, and never fussed once! I was so proud of them!

A picture taken into the sun ... but I love my two soccer players! :)

A juice box that was well earned!

We have 5 more nights of soccer this summer! Jordyn loved her first night, and we could even see her improve from the beginning of the practice to the end! We are proud of her for trying so hard!

Zippity Zoo Day!

Last weekend we went to Zippity Zoo Day at the zoo. We have a membership to the zoo and have seen animals a ton of times. So this time we spent most of our time at the zoo playing on the blowup toys and playing games. The girls had a great time! :)

This little guy is such a trooper! He just goes with the flow and is happy to follow his sisters around.

Jayla looks like she is crying in this picture, but she was loving every minute of the jumping house. :)

The girls will probably be bummed that the blowup toys won't be at the zoo the next time we go!

Jaxon and Gizmo are buddies! Jaxon loves to chase him around and try to take his chew sticks. Some days Gizmo will give his chewstick to Jaxon and then chase him around to get it. We are so lucky to have a dog who just loves our kids!

Last Week!

Last week was so busy for us! On Monday the girls and I went to Zumba! Jayla was a little scared of the loud music, but we had fun! The kids went to daycare 2 days, they swam at our house three days, we went shopping for soccer gear for Jordyn (soccer starts next week), we went to Justin's softball games, and we took the kids to a play in the park  (Jack and the Beanstalk).  The weekend was just as busy ... a trip to the zoo and the splash pool, and tonight we just finished our five nights of VBS! We are e.x.h.a.u.s.t.e.d. (Zoo and VBS pictures to come in other posts.)

All three of our kids love to swim! I have a small pool for Jax and a little larger one for the girls. Jax likes to swim with the girls, but they can get a bit wild and like to put the slide in the pool, so he can't be in there at all times. He screams when swimming time is over, even if he's been swimming for an hour!

Jayla loves to dive/belly-flop into the pool. She thinks it's hilarious! I tried to put the pictures side-by-side, but blogger wouldn't allow me to do it tonight ... but the next few pictures are a sequence of her diving in. :)

While I was taking pictures of Jayla, Jax decided he wanted to get into the other pool. :)

All three playing together! :)

Love these sweet faces!

Check out the pigtails! She loves them! That's the only way I'm allowed to do her hair now! Doesn't she look so much older in these pictures?!

Check out those muscles!

Another sweet face!

The girls love to help in the kitchen each day. We try to bake each day or I let them help with lunch! Most days it goes smoothly. A few weeks ago we had a powered sugar explosion with the mixer, and if the girls hadn't been so traumatized by it, I would have taken pictures, but since they were both screaming their heads off while be covered in powdered sugar, I decided grabbing the camera wasn't my best choice. :)

The girls made mini pizzas for lunch ... they love them!

So ... now I'm only a week behind on blogging. Getting closer to being caught up! :)
