Catch up!

Last week flew by for us! We were all home on Monday. Justin and I had the day off, and the three kids were all home with colds and were not feeling well. I mentioned in the last post that we found out that day that Jaxon had RSV. I stayed home with him on Tuesday and the girls went to daycare. Jayla woke up with a fever on Wednesday, so Justin stayed home with both Jayla and Jaxon. It's a lot of work taking care of those two when they are healthy - it was a bit of a crazy day for him since both of them were sick! Both of them were feeling better and went to daycare on Thursday on Friday.

Jordyn was sad on Wednesday morning when she realized that Jayla and Jaxon were staying home with Daddy for the day. I cheered her up by telling her she could go grocery shopping with me - just the two of us. She was so excited! :) It was the first thing she told her teacher when I dropped her off. After school we went shopping. She had a smile the entire time we shopped, and was cracking everyone up that walked by us. I am glad that Jordyn and I had a little time to spend together just the two of us!

On Thursday we got quite a bit of snow - finally! I sure wasn't wanting it, but I know the girls have been wanting snow! I brought some inside to play with. It was pretty nice outside, but since everyone was battling colds, we didn't want them outside. Normally the girls love to play with snow inside, but they didn't have a ton of interest this time. They both touched it once and then were done.

Jaxon's RSV hasn't been nearly as bad as when the girls had it. Thank goodness! He's definitely not over it though. We just finished his fourth antibitiotic on Friday for his ear infection and we continue to do nebs about 4 times a day. He was tugging at his ears today though, so I am sure that the infection is still here. Until the RSV goes away, the infection is probably there to stay. Poor thing - he has has it since January 13 (or at least that is the date that it was diagnosed). Thankfully he's been pretty happy through it all!

We didn't do a whole lot on Friday night. On Saturday morning we headed to the baby shower that we were throwing for my sister-in-law, Devin! I didn't do a very good job of taking pictures though. Trying to keep up with all three kiddos wasn't easy. I'm so thankful that I had lots of help!

Here's the diaper cake and two cupcakes (although they don't really look like cupcakes) that I made for Devin ...

Auntie Kandi and Jordyn ...

Jayla had fun running around!

The girls in our family!

One more picture of Jordyn at the shower ...

We can't wait for the twins to arrive! :)

After the shower we headed to my parents' house. The guys were hanging out there. We spent the rest of the afternoon/evening there. We had lots of fun - and my mom made one of my favorite meals that I don't think I had eaten in 15 years ... fleish kuekla. YUM!!! Justin had never had them. They are so good, but they take a long time to make! Thanks, Mom, for making them!
Our kids actually slept quite well on Saturday night - at least compared to what they have been sleeping. Jayla woke up pretty fussy though, so we decided to get her into acute care. We wanted to make sure there wasn't an ear infection. She has tubes in her ears, so if there is an infection the ears would be draining - unless the tubes were blocked - or maybe they had fallen out and we didn't know it. She does not have an ear infection and the RSV and Influenza tests were negative (yeah!) but instead she has bronchitis. Ugh. Poor thing. She seemed to be doing better though once we got the antibiotic in her today and started her on neb treatments as well. She loves the neb treatments and wants to do it all by herself!

We have been pretty fortunate that overall, our kids have been healthy. Other than Jayla missing a half day in October, our kids have not missed daycare since August. Jaxon has had the ongoing ear infection too, but other than that we have been healthy! We are hopeful that the kids will all feel better soon! :)

Leaving with you this cutie!

Jayla & Mommy

I don't have many pictures of me with our kids. I'm usually the one taking the pictures. In fact, for two Christmases in a row, I don't think we have a single picture of me!

We were trying to get Jayla to smile for some pictures the other day, and sometimes it works if I tickle her - so we actually got some pictures of me with her!

Her smile is adorable - and that makes up for the m.a.n.y. fits she throws each day. :)

Change of Plans!

I had a nice, long break from school from last Wednesday through yesterday. I was so excited to use that time to work out, clean up the house, catch up on laundry, do a little shopping, and catch up on sleep. We had also made plans to go visit our new nephew, Miles, on Friday/Saturday. We were not going to take our kids with us. Justin came down with a cold, so we decided to wait to go visit him until Sunday/Monday. They live about 4 hours from us, so we thought it would be easiest to stay overnight. Our plans changed once again when we found out the weather was suppose to be bad here on Monday. We decided we better just make it a one day trip so that we could for sure make it home.

On Sunday morning Justin and I left for the cities. We stopped to have lunch with Kayla, Kandi, Josh, and Eric on our way. It was so much fun! Then we continued on our way. We loved getting to visit Darin, Kathryn, and Miles. Miles is so sweet and cute! We spent some time at their house and then went to MOA and just walked around. Miles slept the whole time! We left the cities at about 8 PM and got back home at about midnight.

Check out how cute this baby is!

Our original plan of staying overnight in the cities included Justin and myself going out, just the two of us, for part of the evening. Obviously that changed with having to come home the same day. So, we decided that we would use Monday as a day for the two of us. The kids would go to daycare, and we were going to spend the day together.

None of the kids seemed to feel too great when they woke up. They all had runny noses, so we decided it was probably best to keep them all home. We also decided that we should make an appointment for Jaxon. He was done with his third antibiotic for his ears and we weren't convinced that the infection was gone. The infection started back in January - we took him in on January 13, he's been seen 4 times since then and has been on three antibiotics.. We found out at his appointment that infection was definitely still there. He has been started on a 4th antibiotic. Ugh. He was also tested for RSV, and that unfortunately came back positive. I just cringe at the thought of RSV. Both Jordyn and Jayla had it as babies. Jordyn was 9 weeks old and hospitalized - Jayla was 9 months old but was not hospitalized. Jaxon is happy, a bit stuffed up, and has a little cough, but overall seems to be doing well. He's getting neb treatments every 4-5 hours. SF has been hit hard with RSV - our children's hospital is out of room due to the number of RSV patients. They are having to put kids in the regular hospital. We were told that each year is bad, but about every five years there is a really bad strand of it - this happens to be that year. We are nervous for Jordyn and Jayla, because we are aware of older kids catching it. We have had a number of friends whose kids are Jordyn and Jayla's ages that have been hospitalized. We are hoping and praying for the best!

Check out Jax - he's so happy and doesn't even look sick!

I am home with Jaxon today. My long break from school was extended another day! I am planning to work tomorrow and Justin will stay home with him. We are thankful that so far he is doing pretty well.

Jaxon is napping right now, so I better get a few things done around the house!

One last picture from a few days ago that I just love! Jayla loves to hug him!

Jayla ~ 22 Months

In two short months, we will be celebrating Jayla's 2nd Birthday!

She is a total stinker and as soon as I get the camera out, she does everything she can to make picture-taking difficult for me! That is part of the reason this post is a few days late! After three days of taking pictures of her, we finally got some super cute ones! :)

What is new with Jayla?

Jayla ...

... weighs about 29-30 pounds. She is getting quite tall and will soon catch up with Jordyn!

... wears size 5 diapers, mostly 2T clothes (still some 24-month things) and size 7 shoe.

... loves to do puzzles, build with legos, sweep the kitchen floor, color, feed a bottle to her baby, and play with blocks.

... is still teething! I think she still has 5 or 6 teeth that we are waiting on! She doesn't let me look too closely at them. She's definitely been having some pain in her mouth. She asks for medicine for her teeth.

... has become a bit pickier when it comes to eating, but she still eats well. She is following in her sister's footsteps though and refuses to eat most vegetables. Some of her favorite foods are pizza, pineapple, banans, yogurt, applesauce, chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, hot dogs, fruit snacks, cereal bars, and crackers.

... can be the sweetest thing one second and flip a switch the next second and become a terror! She gets a little look in her eyes that says "watch out!"

... is still throwing some pretty big fits for us. I often get quite stressed about these fits. She does not do them at daycare - until I get there. I still battle her to put her coat on and also to get her in a carseat. She is so strong-willed and gets very upset very easily. I hope that she outgrows this soon. She has been hitting and pushing Jordyn lately too. She does give great hugs though and says sorry so sweetly.

... talks all the time! She's putting 3-5 word phrases together and she tries to repeat most things that we say. We just love hearing her voice!

... does a great job counting to ten in English and Spanish.

... loves to brush her teeth!

... can say a-d of the alphabet and then other random letters as we sing it aloud.

... loves to play "Patty Cake" and will do it/sing it with her doll.

... loves the song "No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" and will sing parts of it aloud.

... thinks Yo Gabba Gabba is the best show ever. (I disagree!)

... was on a pretty good sleep schedule for about a week or so but is now struggling again.  (I am so thankful that Jaxon sleeps so well at night. The girls sure don't, so at least one out of three sleeps for us!)

Happy 22 Months, Jayla!

Introducing ...

I just realized that I hadn't shared some super exciting news! Justin and I have a new nephew! Miles James arrived on February 6. He's such a cutie! :) We were suppose to meet him today, but Justin has been battling a bad cold. He's finally feeling better, but we are going to wait until Sunday. We can't wait to meet him!

Congratulations, Darin & Kathryn!

Ready for a break!

Things have been so chaotic and busy the last few days! I have a long, much-needed break from school starting tomorrow. We have no school from Wednesday through Monday!

Last Thursday I had conferences until 7:00. Justin was in charge of getting the kids from daycare and watching them until I get home. He had never picked up all three kids from daycare by himself. He told me he has a new respect for me. Ha! :)

Justin left early Friday morning and was gone until about 9:30 that night for work. His parents came and helped watch the kids on Friday evening.

On Saturday morning, my parents came to SF. My mom spent the morning with me and Justin and my dad went to a gun show.

On Sunday we went to church and out for supper with Justin's parents. (We also took Jaxon to acute care for his ongoing ear infection ... I forgot all about his doctor appointment on Friday afternoon - I was so mad at myself. He still has an ear infection and is on his 3rd antibiotic since January 13.)

Justin left early Monday morning to head out of town and will return late tonight. I had conferences last night until 7:00, and I have them again tonight until 7:00. (Happy Valentine's Day! Ha!) Thank goodness for grandparents! My parents picked the kids up from daycare yesterday and stayed at my house last night. Justin's parents are picking up the kids today and staying through the evening until I get home. I am exhausted! The girls and I had a "slumber party" in my bed last night since they currently think that sleep isn't really necessary. I am out of ideas for getting them to sleep and to keep them asleep.

Ahhh ... life has been stressful, chaotic, and busy. :)

Some pictures from the last few days ...

Making a lego tower with Grandpa Marlin ...

I got a huge laugh out of Grandpa Marlin dressing the girls in dress up clothes and putting bows in Jayla's hair. Having no daughters, he did a pretty good job! :)

Look how big this cutie is!

Jaxon was a bit (or a lot) fussy on Sunday with his ear infection. He wanted to be held at all times. I'm not a hugefan  of using a carrier, but I decided to pull it out and wear it for a little while. He enjoyed it - I just get nervous carrying kids that way.

Time to keep moving! Life doesn't slow down!

Happy Valentine's Day!
