Three Kids

School has been out for almost 2 weeks already! I can already tell that this summer vacation will fly by! The girls went to daycare all last week so that I could have a chance to run errands, go to the dentist, clean the house, catch up on laundry, get a pedicure and an hour-long prenatal massage (Thanks, Justin!), and just find a little time to relax. Although my week was jam-packed full, it was a much-needed week to get caught up on things and make me feel a little more ready for summer. Starting this week, the girls will only go to daycare 2 times a week. This will help keep them in routine for when they go back full-time in the fall, but also to give me a little "down time" each week.

Our spring weather hasn't been real nice to us, but we have managed to have some nice days, so we have soaked up the sun and warm weather on those days! :)

This past weekend we went to the lake from Friday-Monday. We stopped and had dinner with my parents on Friday evening, Justin's parents got to the lake late Saturday night, and my sisters, brother-in-law, and their friends came to see us on Sunday at the lake.

The weather was pretty warm on Saturday and very hot on Monday - but of course very windy. We took the girls swimming both days. The pool was heated, and the girls loved it! Jordyn loves to jump in over and over and over. Jayla surprised us and did well too. She is not a fan of bath time (although, it is getting better), so we weren't sure what she would think of the pool. She liked swimming lessons in January, but we didn't know how she would react to swimming outside in cooler water. She did well! She loves to sit on the side and kick in the water.

The girls loved to sit and watch the boats go by from the patio, but also from the bridge that is near the condo. We took a few walks with the girls, did a little shopping, and let Jordyn go on a couple of rides at Arnold's Park.

Of course a weekend can't always go smoothly with two little ones! Ha! At about 12:30 on Saturday night, Jayla woke up screaming and really just needed her paci to put her back to sleep. Do you think we could find it? We took apart the pack-and-play, ripped apart our bed, looked everywhere in our room, but we could not find it anywhere. Jayla would not stop screaming (she is also getting teeth right now) ... finally at 1:00 AM, Justin took off for Wal-Mart to go buy a new paci. We never found the thing. We have absolutely no idea what could have happened to it! I swear we lose pacifiers faster than anyone! :)

After a weekend at the lake, we are sure looking forward to more warm weather!

It's a Boy!

On Monday we found out that Baby #3 is a boy! We are very excited! I have done a little shopping for Baby J ... it's funny how different it is to shop for boys than girls. Every store that I walk into I automatically head straight for the girl's clothes. Then I remember I need to head to other side of the store to shop for a boy!

Jordyn is super excited, and she got to make the announcement to all of the teachers at daycare. She went from room to room telling everyone that there's a baby brother in Mommy's tummy. We know that Jayla will be just as excited to having a baby brother. :)

We were given many ultrasound pictures, but I am just sharing two ...

 4D Picture of Baby J ...
The ultrasound showed that Baby J is growing nicely. He currently weighs 15 ounces and seems to be very healthy! His heartbeat on Monday was in the 150's.

The doctor thought I was doing well too. I am measuring 4 days ahead, and I was warned to be prepared for a big baby. Jordyn was 6 pounds 12 ounces and Jayla was 8 pounds. Since this is baby #3 and boys tend to be a little bigger, she told us to plan for an 8 1/2-9 pound baby! (However, Jordyn was predicted by 3 doctors and an ultrasound to be 10 pounds, and she wasn't even 7! Ha!)

I am having a little pain in my lower right leg. Unfortunately I have some spider veins/varicose veins from this pregnancy. It makes me sick to look at my leg right now. I will probably need to have some work done on the leg after the pregnancy. The doctor has recommended that I wear the horrible compression tights to help. Ugh. I HATE those things!

Other than my leg, I am feeling well. I am able to continue running and would love to run a 5K on July 4, but we'll see how things continue to go. I would be exactly 6 months along if I ran one that day. I'll have to see how I'm feeling. :)

Jayla ~ 13 Months

Jayla is 13 months old. (I actually typed this week ago on the 16th, when she was 13 months old - it has just taken a while for me to get the pictures uploaded. How am I going to ever stay on track with 3 kids?!)

Jayla loves to stick out her tongue/spit ... she thinks she's pretty funny! :)
Getting into the chips ...

We told her "no" so she stuck out her tongue again ...

What is new with Jayla?

Jayla ...

... weighs 25 pounds (95th percentile) and is 31 1/2 inches long (95th percentile). She's a healthy girl! :)

... wears mostly 18-month clothes, size 3 or 4 shoe, and size 3 diapers.

... is walking and running everywhere. She tries hard to keep up with Jordyn!

... is willing to try any food that we give her. We have not found too many things that she won't eat. She loves mandarin oranges, turkey, bananas, bread (loves her carbs!), and peas.  She's not a huge fan of peaches, but that is one of the only things we have found she doesn't care for.

... no longer uses a bottle. (I'm so thrilled that I could pack those up ... well, for a little while anyway). Jayla did not like whole milk at first, but we finally have her transitioned to liking it!

... loves to play with balls, blocks, the rocking horse, and the play kitchen/food.

... loves to say "hi" to everyone that she sees. She is so sweet!

... has recently decided she does not like bath time. She will not sit down, and it takes Justin and myself to give her a bath together. We aren't sure what has caused such a disliking for the bath. I hope this doesn't mean she won't like the swimming pool this summer.

... has been ear infection free for about a month. The tubes are working great and both the ENT and the pediatrician think her ears look great. Yay!

... still has just 2 teeth! Hopefully she'll get a few more soon! (*Update - I typed this a week ago, and she just had another tooth pop through. She is up to 3 teeth!)

... loves playing outside, but she isn't a fan of standing or sitting in the grass.

... is such a little sweetheart. We can't believe that she is 13 months old already!

Tour de Minnesota

This post is a little late. Two weekends ago (May 6-8, see - I'm behind) was such a fun weekend! After work we headed to MN to see Kayla, Kandi, and Eric (my sisters and brother-in-law). We spent the night with them and had so much fun. The girls were so wound up and so funny for them! On Saturday morning we headed to Owatonna. Justin and I lived there for 2 1/2 years right after we got married. We hadn't been back to visit in about 2 years - when Jordyn was 7 months old. A visit there was way over due! We got to see some of our wonderful friends, but of course it was such a fast trip that we couldn't see everyone. We had lunch with my very dear friend, Nichole, and her family at our very favorite restaurant. We had such a fun and yummy lunch with them! We spent about 45 minutes driving around town checking everything out since it had been 2 years since we had been there. We drove by our old house and also did a little shopping at the outlet mall that was close to where we lived. We had a great time! (Sadly, I left my camera in the bag the whole time. What was I thinking?!?!?!)

After Owatonna, we headed up to the cities! Justin's parents were up there with Justin's brother and sister-in-law. They (Darin and Kathryn) will be moving there in a few weeks, so they had flown into the cities to find housing. So we spent the evening with them. Justin and Jordyn did a little swimming at the hotel, then we went to the MOA to eat at Rain Forest Cafe, and on Sunday morning we went and played at a park. We headed home at about lunchtime on Sunday.

Here's just a few pictures from swimming and MOA ...

Jayla loves to cuddle with stuffed animals ... it's so sweet!

The girls AND Justin decided to ride in this bus ... (Yes, Justin had a hard time getting back out of the bus)

Jordyn thought "driving" this bus was the greatest thing in the world and she sang "The Wheels on the Bus" the entire time she was in it!
Jordyn also road on the carousel, but the pictures turned our blurry since we didn't take our nice camera with us. I decided to not post them, because they really were not very good.
The girls did awesome on this trip. We were constantly on the go, missing normal naps times, and going to bed way too late, but the girls handled themselves very well. We were proud of them. Of course Monday morning wasn't easy with two crabby girls - I am so thankful for daycare. Ha! :)

On a side note - our van now doubles as a vehicle and port-a-potty. Jordyn is potty trained, but we knew we would be spending a lot of time on the road, so we brought Jordyn's little potty with us so that we could just pull off on a side road if we needed to. Sure enough, we did! It worked out perfectly and saved us so much time from having to find a gas station or some other nasty public restroom to use.

Graduation Celebration!

We had a graduation celebration at our house on Sunday! Jordyn isn't old enough to graduate from preschool ... but she has finally graduated from the paci!!! Woohoo!!! She had stopped using it to sleep last December, but in January she stopped sleeping well for us, and it was our last resort. We had to give it back to her to keep us all from going insane. On Saturday night we took it away and told her we would have a "Graduation from the Paci" celebration on Sunday. She was just fine throughout the night, and on Sunday afternoon we took her to the store to pick out cupcakes (since Mom was too lazy to bake them this time).

Holding up the paci, one last time ...
Giving it one more try, before it's gone for good ...
Two thumbs up for NO PACI!

Jordyn picked out princess cupcakes - loaded with frosting. But hey, it was a celebration!

Two thumbs up for yummy cupcakes!

And ... this little one was worried we would forget her. Look at Jayla begging for a cupcake! She loves her sweets! (We did take take off most of the frosting for her.)

Jordyn ate about half of her cupcake ... Jayla ate every. single. bite.

Yay for no more paci!!!!

Spring is finally here!

We are finally getting some warm weather. The girls absolutely love playing outside! We have been busy with bubbles, sidewalk chalk, riding the trike, playing on the slide and in the playhouse, sitting at the girls' new picnic table, and just enjoying some warmer temperatures.

Jayla was very interested in Jordyn's trike, so we put the helmet on her and let her give it a try! Of course Jordyn wanted to be "Daddy's Pecial Helper" while Jayla rode the trike.
Jayla absolutely loved the trike. She holds on all by herself, and she even knows how to ring the bell. :)

We are so glad that we can finally play outside!

3 Months & 4 Months

I am already 4 months into this pregnancy! I haven't posted any pictures of myself, but I thought I should probably do so. I don't want Baby #3 to think he/she was left out! :)

3 Months ...
4 Months ...

My next appointment is in 2 weeks. This will also be the appointment that we find out if we are having Baby Girl #3 or Baby Boy #1. I honestly don't have a guess one way or the other. I was so sure it was a boy at first, then a girl, and then at my third appointment, I couldn't decide. We are excited to find out!

I am still feeling fine. My tummy is growing very quickly. I've gained 5 pounds, but I look like I've gained 15. I am still running - even more than I did with my second pregnancy. Running still feels great! (Well, as great as running can feel at anytime.) I had to stop running at 20 weeks when I was pregnant with Jayla due to placenta previa. I am hoping that I don't have that this time so that I can continue to run. We will find out at my next appointment.

Jordyn tells me I have a baby girl in my tummy, she has a baby girl in her tummy, Jayla has a baby girl in her tummy, and Daddy has a baby boy in his tummy. The minds of little ones crack us up! :)

Why I'm So Behind ...

Here's one of the many reasons I'm behind on updating the blog ...
Jayla is into absolutely everything, including emptying a box of 100 sandwich bags. She was very proud of herself! :)

Jordyn so sweetly looked at us and told us she would clean it up. :) Of course we helped her!

And ... two silly pictures. We have two baby pack-and-plays (thank goodness we have two - the girls do not like to share these), and the girls think they need to sit in them with their babies! I could only get pictures of Jordyn though - Jayla would climb out as soon as I got the camera near her.

I don't think I can imagine our lives ever being without chaos - but it's worth it! :)

Jordyn ~ 2 Years 6 Months

I am a little late with posting Jordyn's monthly post. I had the pictures ready to go on the exact day, but we have just been so busy/exhausted, that I didn't get around to uploading them. She gave me quite a few silly faces while I was taking pictures - but they are too cute to not share!

What is Jordyn up to?

Jordyn ...

... still weighs about 32 pounds. (Jayla is catching up quickly!)

... wears mostly 2T clothing, size 8 or 9 shoe, and NO diapers. :)

... is potty-trained! When I did her last monthly post, I mentioned she was close to being trained, but she is completely trained now. :) We do still put pull-ups on her a night, but she wakes up dry every morning. I guess we could stop using them, but it's still reassuring to me that I won't have a mess to clean up in the middle night if she has an accident.

... absolutely loves to play outside. We are finally getting some nice weather, and she throws a huge fit every time we have to go inside in the evening.I always wonder what our neighbors think when they can hear her screaming because she has to go inside for the night.

... still is not a great eater, but she did try a green bean and a carrot. She spit them out, but getting her to put them in her mouth is progress. Baby steps, right? :)

... has an incredible memory and doesn't forget a s.i.n.g.l.e. thing. She absolutely amazes us! One of the things she really pays attention to is every building/store/restaurant that we drive by. She can tell you about every place that we have gone in in the last 6 months and what we either bought there or who we ate there with. For example - we drove by Panera Bread a few days ago, and Jordyn shouted "Hey Look!" I asked her who we went there with (about 6 weeks ago), and she told me Jordyn, Jayla, Daddy, Mommy, Grandpa Buzz, Grandma Ronda, Grandma Oma (my grandma, Marlene), and Kiki. She told me she ate yogurt while she was there. (She was right!) We also drive by Best Buy, which Jordyn thinks is the "Apple TV store," and she reminded us that was the store we bought a new telephone.

... thinks that our car is going down a slide each time we go down a hill while driving. She also thinks that we're racing the other cars as we go down the road. Then she will holler "Boogity Boogity Boogity - Let's Go Racing" just as they do on Nascar races. She thinks she's pretty funny!

... loves to sing the Barney song and gives Jayla a "great big hug and a kiss from me to you." So sweet! It's even sweeter when she sings "You Are My Sunshine" to us. Melts our hearts!

... can pretty much tell you anything and everything you would ever want to know. She has been speaking in sentences for about a year already, and it's so fun to have a conversation with her. Two funny words that she made up are ... she calls her belly button a belly belly and her finger nails/toe nails are called nail nails. She knows the correct words for them, but she puts her own special touch on them. We also love that a sandwich is a "snandwich" and an elevator is an "alligator."

... told us we needed to buy her another ipad so that she can have her own. (I guess she doesn't like sharing ours.) She's 2 and asking for ipad. Yikes.

... thinks Best Busy is the Apple TV store. We have Apple TV, and that is what she associates with the store.

... thinks she should get a sucker every time she goes "poopy on the potty." When we give her a sucker, she calls it her "poopy sucker." I think she needs to find a new name for it.

... loves to tell us every morning that she had a great night and "slept in my big girl bed all night."

Jordyn says and does so many funny things each day. I try to write them down, but if I don't do it within 10 minutes of it happening, I usually forget them! These are a few things other things that I have written down in the last few days ...

*My sister-in-law works at Walgreens, and each day we drive by Walgreens on our way home from school. (Not the one that Devin works at, but they all look like.) Jordyn tells me the store is called Greenwall and Devin works there. She says it everyday!

*We take a different way home from school than we do to school. I don't know why I do that, but I do. The way there is faster because we take the interstate ... the way home is not on the interstate and it takes about 7 minutes longer. I do enjoy a few extra minutes in the car on the way home to unwind and sit before chasing the girls around the house - but also because Jordyn always has cute stories to tell me. We have great conversations in the car. Jordyn can also tell me every single turn we need to take to and from school. She does not miss a detail of anything!

*As we were watching the Royal Wedding, I told Jordyn that I had been to that pretty church. Of course she said she had been there too. (because she has done everything we have - ha!) As we left for school that morning, she turned to the TV, looked at the church, and sweetly said "Bye Jesus."

It's hard to believe Jordyn is two and half years old!
