This is our new children's hospital, and sad to say, our sweet Jayla is currently a patient.
Last night at about 8:00 Jayla had a temp of 100.8. Since she's so young, that is considered very high. We took her to acute care, and they immediately sent us to the ER. When we got there, Jayla's temp was 102.5. Jayla had lots of blood work done and also a spinal tap. Because the fever was so high and we have to wait 48-72 hours to get everything back, she was admitted to the hospital. We were in the ER from about 9:00-1:30 last night, and we were finally brought to the hospital room at about 2:30 this morning. We are going on about an hour of sleep right now.
We don't really have a ton of information to share ... we do know her spinal tap came back clear, which means meningitis can be about 99% ruled out - what a relief! Her fever is under control with the help of medicine, but it spikes as soon as the medicine wears off. We just feel so awful for her. We are thankful for such wonderful doctors and nurses in the ER last night and also in the castle today.
Jordyn was up until midnight with us until Justin's parents could get here. Jordyn was incredibly well-behaved - and she was 4 hours past her bedtime. She was so sweet while we were at the ER, and she had all of the doctors and nurses smiling. When they did the spinal tap on Jayla, they made us leave the room (and I had already kept Jordyn out of the room during the blood work/IV), but Jordyn could hear Jayla screaming. She jumped off my lap and kept yelling "Uh-oh Jay-Jay Uh-oh Jay-Jay" and took off running out of the waiting room to Jayla's room. She's such a sweet big sister already!
Please say a prayer for Jayla - and hopefully we can leave the castle soon.
