A little catch up ...

We are really enjoying summer - and are staying busy every minute of it!

Jordyn loves the 3 days she spends at daycare each week. She learns so much, and she loves her friends there. Each day she tells us who she plays with - Emma is her best friend. :) Here's Jordyn before daycare on Thursday morning ... (and yes, she has a prescription bottle in her hand ... it was from her ear drops, it's empty, and she loves the clicking noise the lid makes when she turns it) ...

On Friday, we had a "Mommy and Jordyn" afternoon. We went swimming with a couple of friends and their kids! Jayla stayed at home with Great Grandma Marcia. I think it was good for us to just have some one-on-one time. However, when we were leaving the house, Jordyn panicked because Jayla wasn't in the car with us. She kept yelling "Jay-Jay Jay-Jay" like we had forgotten her. She's so caring! We went swimming with 2 other kids. Here's Jordyn and Zachary - Jordyn didn't want to look at the camera, but Zachary sure has a cute smile!
Zachary, Addalynn, and Jordyn ... not an easy task to get them all smiling. At least they were all looking! Ha! :)
On Saturday we took Jordyn and Jayla to a splash pool in town. It's free (yay!) and it was very nice! We only stayed for about 45 minutes, but it was long enough to wear Jordyn out. :)

Daddy was brave enough to go down the slide with Jordyn. :) ...
... lots of times ...
She loves to swim!
I put Jayla's feet in the water - this was her first real swimming experience.
She doesn't enjoy the bright sun!
We tried to get the 3 of us - Jordyn was running away, Jayla's hat is covering her face, and my expression is ridiculous. Ha!As we were leaving the pool, the sky was starting to look like it might rain. We had planned to go to the mall after the pool (after going to home to change real quickly), but our plans quickly changed when we saw the radar. We knew we were in for quite a storm.

For all of you Midwesterners ... I'm thinking these pictures look quite familiar to you ... it seems to be an everyday occurrence ...

We are sure tired of the storms! We decided to spend our evening in the basement (we have 2 basements, but we weren't in the lowest level) ... and Jordyn must have felt like something was wrong, because she sat on the couch next to me for an hour. She didn't move ... we just snuggled! I loved it!
Our neighbor braved the horrible rain and ran across the street to spend a few hours with us. She was home alone so we told her to come on over. We didn't have a tornado warning, but it was horrible out. Our families, who were all in different spots of Iowa and Minnesota a couple of hours from each other, were all in tornado warnings at the same time. It was crazy! And - we are thankful that all of our friends in Little Rock, IA, were safe after the Friday tornadoes. We are sad that so many houses and buildings were lost, but thankful everyone is safe. My parents could see the tornado from their house - about 5 miles away.

On Sunday we went to church. Our church starts at 9:30 - so our goal is always to be ready by 9:00, knowing that we still won't leave until about 9:15. This Sunday we were ready at 8:59! I couldn't believe it! I jokingly said that something would still make us late to church - and then Justin's phone rang. He was on emergency claims for the weekend, and with all the storms, he was busy. Sure enough, a claim was coming through, and we didn't leave for church until 9:20. By the time we dropped a screaming Jordyn off in the nursery and sat down for church, we were 10 minutes late!
Church was a disaster for us. We didn't like leaving Jordyn screaming in the nursery, but we thought she would calm down. They told us they would page us if she didn't calm down - sure enough, after 5 minutes our pager went off and Justin had to go get her. She cannot sit through church, and Justin ended up taking her out screaming and he missed the sermon. By the end of the service, Jayla was starting to fuss because she was hungry. The people around us probably laughed at our dysfunctional family! Ha! Ask me what I got out of the service - I'm not sure that I could tell you one thing. It was stressful trying to get the girls to stay quiet!

On happy note - this little cutie was full smiles before church ...

We have a busy 2 weeks ahead of us - but lots of fun planned! I'll try to update again soon. :)

Our Family

We finally got some pictures of the 4 us - that include some smiles from Jordyn! (This was thanks to the help of Kayla and Heather!) The girls were dressed alike with their big sis/little sis shirts - they looked so cute (but you can't really read their shirts in the picture)!

This one makes me laugh - this was our "pep talk" to Jordyn about taking a picture.

A kiss for her sister ...

Jordyn & Jayla

Jordyn LOVES her baby sister. We are so happy that the transition of having a new baby in the house has gone well for Jordyn. She's a great helper with Jayla - she loves to hold her, kiss her, tickle her feet, and give her paci to her if she's crying. She can't wait to see her each morning when she wakes up and also when I pick her up from daycare. Jordyn loves to talk about "Jay Jay." A few days ago we had Jayla in the carseat - Justin and I were both getting to ready to go to church - and Jordyn sat right in the front of the carseat and talked to Jayla while we were getting ready. Jayla was wide awake during this and just kept smiling at Jordyn. I couldn't get the camera fast enough, but I really wish I could have gotten it on our video camera. It was so sweet! These two girls are going to be great friends! :)

The pictures that I have on this post are cute - but the sun was shining on them, so the quality isn't the best. I didn't want to move them though, because Jordyn was so comfy holding Jayla. :)
Kisses ...
Helping Jayla with her paci ...

Helping again ...
Jordyn sometimes takes Jayla's paci out to kiss her - we've tried to show her that Jayla can keep her paci, and Jordyn can still kiss her ... the look on Jayla's face cracks me up. I think she's asking for help. Ha!

We love these girls dearly!

Just Jordyn!

She found some ants and was fascinated by them ...

Thursday-Sunday

I am finally starting to get caught up on the rest of my posts from the last few days! However this one will be kind of random because every time I start it, I get interrupted, and I just need to get it posted!

On Thursday night we went to the Sugarland/Luke Bryan/Danny Gokey concert. We went with Justin's parents and some of their friends. The girls got to stay home with Gpa (Bampa as Jordyn calls her grandpas) and Gma VB. It sounds like they had as much fun as we did! The concert was fabulous!! I took some pictures, but they didn't turn out great (and I looked horrible in them) so I decided not to post them.

On Friday we had some visitors!! Our friends, Shelly and Riley from Owatonna, happened to be in town, so they stopped by to meet Jayla and play with Jordyn. Jordyn was super wild while they were here - she definitely loves an audience! It was so much fun to visit with them!

Here's Riley with Jayla ...

And with Jordyn too ... (she LOVED Riley!)

Shelly and Jayla ...

Thanks so much for stopping, Shelly and Riley! It was so fun to see you!

On Friday afternoon we headed to the lake for the weekend. The weather was awesome! Finally! We did a little boating, some swimming, went on some walks, and Justin and I got a 2 mile run in!

We took both girls to the pool, but we didn't put Jayla in the water. She had her suit on, but she was pretty comfy (and stayed cool) in the stroller, so we left here there ...

I think Jordyn jumped in the pool about 30 times in a row. She loves the water!

We went on a couple of boat rides ...

Jayla's first boat ride ...

This is Jordyn's old life jacket, and I complained all last summer about how awful they look on kids. Jayla handled it just fine, but she sure looks uncomfortable!
Jordyn got to drive the boat!
She loved it!
Auntie Kayla (Kiki is what Jordyn calls her) came over for a little while and rode on the boat too!
Auntie Kiki with the two girls ...
On Saturday we also went and saw my dad and BJ - they had a bass tournament, so we met them afterwards. Jordyn got to sit in their bass boat, which I have pictures of, but I just realized that they didn't upload to the post. I guess I'll add them in the next post! Ugh!

On Sunday we went to church at the camp with my sister, did a little swimming, and then headed to my parent's house for a delicious dinner.

We got home at about 9 on Sunday night. We had a wonderful weekend, but we were sure exhausted!
