Such a sweet face!

I just love looking at this sweet face ... :)

We recently got Jordyn's pack and play out - this has been helpful for those times that I need to do a few things around the house. She follows me like she's a little duckling following her mother.

She loves to play in her pack-and-play for short periods of time. This has been a life saver now that she can walk everywhere through the house!

Finally, an update!

Our Thanksgiving was very busy, but also very fun. As I mentioned in a previous post, our Thanksgiving break started with Jordyn's ear procedure on Wednesday. She seems to be doing okay from it. There is lots of junk and blood coming out of her ears (sorry if that's TMI). We actually talked to the doctor late last night because there was so much stuff that her drops wouldn't even go in her ears. We were able to get it mostly cleaned out, but had to still clean it multiple times today. I am just praying that everything is okay. She has not slept well since the procedure - waking up 10-15 times a night crying. This is completely unlike her. Tonight she also fought us for an hour and a half at bedtime. Maybe once we're back into our normal routine of normal bedtimes, no traveling, back to daycare, things will be okay. :)

Back to Thanksgiving ... on Thursday morning we went to my aunt and uncle's house. They live just a few minutes from us. We had a delicious lunch at their house and had a great time spending time with the family. We enjoyed spending the morning and afternoon with my parents, sisters, Eric, aunt, uncle, and cousins. To be honest, I didn't take many pictures at any of our family get-togethers, but I'll share the few I have. :)

Here's Jordyn with Uncle Eric, Aunt Kandi, Aunt Kayla, and Grandpa Buzz. As I have mentioned before, Jordyn is not liking the camera too much these days, which is why there is no smile.
Jordyn played peek-a-boo with Grandpa Buzz for the longest time. She thought it was so funny - that is one of her favorite games to play. She loves to cover her own face to play too.
On Thursday evening we went to Justin's grandparent's house, which is only about 10 minutes from ours. We had a great evening with his family - as well as another wonderful meal. (I think by this point, Justin and I were both getting worried we may not fit into our clothes the next day.) I just realized as I was uploading pictures tonight that I didn't take a single picture on Thursday evening. Bummer!

On Friday morning I got up bright and early to shop. :) We live about 3 miles from the mall, which is great for this time of the year. Justin's mom, aunts, and grandma met me there. We shopped for a few hours, got a few good deals, and then headed home because we were exhausted. I happened to see myself in a mirror at one of the stores, and then I became quite embarrassed with how bad I actually looked when I left to go shopping.

Friday afternoon we headed off to see Justin's grandparents, aunt, uncle, and cousins. We hadn't seen his cousins since our wedding! It was so much fun to see Sidney and Molly again - and we also got to meet Molly's fiance. We had so much fun visiting with them, and we were glad they got to meet Jordyn. Jordyn still has quite a fear of men (mostly men that she's not familiar with), but she gave Chad, Molly's fiance, a high-five right away. :) I guess he's a keeper, Molly!

Jordyn had fun playing with Sidney and Molly ...

Justin, Jordyn, and I all crashed Friday night. We were exhausted ... unfortunately, Jordyn had a tough night so we were up with her many times.

On Saturday we got up bright and early (thanks, Jordyn). We headed out to do some more shopping. We couldn't believe how empty the stores were when we were shopping. There were not many people. We went to 4 stores and the mall, and it was quite calm. Jordyn fell asleep at the mall, so ended our shopping there.

On Saturday afternoon we headed to my parent's house. Here's a few pictures from before we left ...

My parents have a keyboard that Jordyn loves ... our little Ray Charles ...
I had a few minutes to relax ... yay!
Jordyn is a huge mama's girl, which I love, but she will not leave my side. For about an hour at my parent's house, she played on her own without coming to me once. Let me tell you, that hour was so relaxing to me! Don't get me wrong, I love playing with Jordyn - sometimes I just need a few minutes to breathe without her screaming because I'm not within inches of her.

Jordyn was looking for someone to read to her ...
We helped my parents decorate their Christmas tree. Jordyn wanted to help too ...
She thought it was fun and she even took an ornament from the container and on her own, walked over to the tree, and set it on a branch. It was so cute!

Our break went by way too fast, and I'm completely worn out - a great way to start the week, right? :) I have been feeling under the weather again and I am hoping for a great night of sleep. I just can't kick this cold that I've been battling for about a month now. Just when I think it's almost gone, it comes back full force. Last night I slept on the couch because I was coughing so much, and I was trying not to wake up Justin and Jordyn. I'm afraid I'll be sleeping in the same place tonight. I have a dr. appointment on Tuesday, so I am anxious to talk to the doctor.

We hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Our family has so much to be thankful for - we have once again, truly been blessed this year.

Good night!

An update to come soon!

Hi friends! We hope that you all have had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday/weekend. Ours was very busy, but fun. I promise an update will be coming soon. :) Until then, we are busy cheering on the Vikings!

Tubes are in!

Jordyn had her ear procedure this morning. We woke Jordyn up at 4:30 this morning to give her a little water and juice to drink. She couldn't have anything after 5:00 AM, and we knew she wouldn't make it comfortably until after the surgery, so we wanted her to eat.

We had to be at the hospital at 6:15 and the procedure was 7:30. The procedure went well. The surgeon was very surprised at how much fluid was in the left ear. He told us it was quite bad. Her ear bled a little bit today, as was expected.

Knowing how bad her left ear just made us feel horrible. Jordyn has handled her ear infections remarkably well. I am sad knowing that Jordyn doesn't really know what it's like to have pain-free ears. She's had about 12 infections since January and for the last 8 weeks she has always had an ear infection. The antibiotics and shots no longer help. I hope we now have a solution to the problem. I also know that with baby #2, I will push harder to get tubes if the ear infections start.

Jordyn was back in our arms at about 7:50, but recovery didn't go as well. We were warned that about 5% of kids who come out of the surgery come out in a "fog" due to the gas they are given. When they are in this "fog" they will often scream for an hour and really have no idea what is going and can't control themselves. Unfortunately, Jordyn came out in this "fog" and she screamed for 45 minutes. Nothing could comfort her. She wouldn't eat or sleep. After about 45 minutes I finally got her to fall asleep. We weren't allowed to leave the hospital until she would eat, so we ended up staying quite a bit longer than originally planned. After Jordyn took about 20 minute nap in my arms, I decided to try a bottle with her. She woke up, downed the bottle, ate a container of applesauce, and she was a totally different child.

It took her a little while to show her true personality again, but after her nap at home, she was ready to go. :) Her smiles, giggles, and silliness came back and she was ready to play.

We will have a recheck with the surgeon in about 2 weeks, and we are just praying that this will take care of the infections.

Now it's off to bed since we've been up since 4:30.

A little of everything :)

I've been lacking in the blog posts recently - sorry to my faithful readers. :) To be honest, we don't have a ton of news to share and taking pictures of Jordyn is getting harder by the day. She has recently decided that when we get the camera out, she runs the other way. Do you think she's had enough of the camera? I mean she's only had a few thousand pictures (no joke) taken of her in the last year. Wouldn't we all love that? :)

The pictures that I do have to share are all from the weekend.

Jordyn loves my glasses ... (but we'll pray she'll never need real ones)

We can't believe how much Jordyn learns in a matter of a week. She has finally started using sign language for "more" and "book". I have to credit daycare for this. We have worked on it at home, but she shows little interest. Daycare has also been working on it, and I think it really helps that she sees the other kids do it too. Now she uses it all of the time. Here she is doing "more" ...
On Saturday we put up our Christmas tree. I love this time year. We still have some decorating around the house to do, but the tree is up. :) And ... Jordyn doesn't seem to care about it one bit! I thought for sure she would be attacking it.

Another one of Jordyn's very favorite things to do is talk on the phone. She holds it up to her ear and chats away. Her favorite word (and only word besides mama and dada) is hi - she says it to everyone and everything.

We tried to get a few pictures of Jordyn before church, but again, we struggled. I was trying to hold her in place, but she is practically dragging me to get away from Daddy and the camera.

My windows will never be the same ... but I love it. :)

Look who found the tupperware drawer ...

Why is Jordyn so happy?

Because her Brett Favre jersey continues to be good luck on Sundays ... which makes her mom very happy since Brett Favre is on her fantasy football team. :)

Reading away ...

Jordyn loves to put things in her mouth and be silly with them - she knows we'll laugh and she loves the attention.

She also loves her Gizmo ...

Have I ever mentioned how good he is to her? He played tug of war so nicely with her. It was so cute. She laughed so hard!

Thanks for reading my random post. :) Hopefully the next one will have a little more "rhyme and reason." Have a great week!

8 weeks!

Are you wondering what 8 weeks is?

That is the amount of time that Jordyn has had an ear infection, without much of a break. Did I mention how thankful I am that she will be getting tubes a week from today?! We took her in for a recheck on her ears today (to the pediatrician, not the ear specialist), and she still had infection in both ears. I knew she did - her runny nose and cough came back as soon as she was done with the antibiotic last week. So - we're back on the antibiotic. Poor Jordyn. Fortunately, she handles being sick so well - and even better, she loves to take medicine. She seriously gets excited when I bring it to her. Jordyn also was able to get her 12 month shots today. We held off on those two weeks ago at her appointment due to her being quite sick. She handled her shots just fine again - a good scream for 10-15 seconds, and then life was good again. She was running around the second we got home. :)

Look at this little girl who knows how to "cheese it up" for the camera!
So sweet!
The next pictures are from a couple of days ago. We got a new camera, so I was taking a few pictures of Jordyn with it ... of course I had to dress her up. :)
Talking away ... I'm pretty sure she doesn't get that from her mom. :)

These were from this morning. She loves breakfast, and she pounds on her tray until she gets her food!
Almost ready for school - Jordyn just needed to get out of her pj's. I love days when we can stay in our pj's all day.
And are you wondering about this guy?
He's still around - causing all kinds of trouble. :) He loves Jordyn - just as much as she loves him. He is so good to her - probably because he knows she'll share all of her food with him. :) Gizmo loves to have Jordyn pet him, and if she pulls his fur, he just gets up and walks away. We couldn't be happier with how well he treats her ... minus him taking her stuffed animals to get attention.

That's about all for tonight. I'm exhausted - after Jordyn's dr. appointment, we ate dinner, cleaned the kitchen and floors, did some laundry, ran/lifted weights, and now it's TV time. :)

New pictures :)

We don't have a lot of news to share ... so I'll just leave you with some pictures tonight. :)

Jordyn got this adorable blue and brown dress as part of her gift from my brother, sister-in-law, and sisters for her birthday. We just love her in blue! :)
One of her very favorite things to play with is a beach ball. Thank goodness for the free beach balls from Pizza Ranch - I think every family member (on both sides) has one, so Jordyn always has one to play with wherever we go!
She loves to play catch. :)
Talking (or yelling) as loud as she can!

Time flies!

Wow, it's been almost a week since I last updated. I guess I have been a little MIA from the blogging world this week. (for my blogging friends - I hope to get caught up on reading your blogs soon) Even though I had 2 days off of school this week, I still managed to get behind on everything ... including taking pictures of Jordyn. Can you believe that I didn't take a single picture of Jordyn this week?! Yikes! What is my problem? :) Ha!

On Tuesday I had a doctor appointment. Everything seems to be going well with Baby #2. The heartbeat sounded great (I love that sound!), and the doctor thought everything else was going well too. On December 1 we will find out if it is a boy or girl. We are excited! I have an idea of what we may be having, but last time I was sure we were having a boy, and I was definitely wrong, so I am more than likely wrong this time too.

Jordyn has had a great week. She seems to be feeling much better. Also, we met with an ear specialist on Wednesday, and we are happy to say that Jordyn will be getting tubes in a week and a half. We just want her to be comfortable. Ear infections never seemed to bother her until about the last 6 weeks - the last 2-3 infections have been horrible (fevers, pain, cough, runny nose). She did well on her hearing test, but they told us her left ear drum wasn't moving like the right one was because of the fluid behind it. We are looking forward to hopefully being ear infection-free after this!

Jordyn seems to learn and grow so much every day. She loves drinking real milk, and we can definitely tell it has more calories - she's getting a little belly on her! She talks non-stop when we are at home. Her letter "i" is coming out so well, and she's working on saying "hi." If she doesn't try to say hi, she'll at least wave. She walks and runs everywhere - she definitely wears us out, but we love every minute of it. Some days we still struggle with eating, but overall she is doing much better. Her favorite food is still, by far, bananas. This morning she had 1 1/2 bananas for breakfast. She cried when I wouldn't give her anymore. If only she would eat other fruits, veggies, and meats that well. :)

Our weekend will probably be pretty low-key. I can't believe how fast the month of November is going. We have only 7 more days of school until Thanksgiving break! Wow!

Thanks for checking in on us - the next post will hopefully be sooner and include pictures. :) Have a great weekend!

Hi friends! We hope that you have had a great weekend! We have had another busy, but fun, weekend. On Friday night we went to a chili supper with many other families from our daycare. It was so much fun - and good food too!

On Saturday we had family pictures taken at JCP's. We hadn't done this since Jordyn was 3 weeks old. We take so many pictures of her at home, plus my sister has taken many, but we wanted another updated family picture, as well as professional 1-year old pictures, and we haven't seen my sister too much lately for her to do it.

Round 1 of pictures didn't go real well. Our family ones turned out good, but Jordyn REFUSED to take any pictures by herself. She cried and cried and cried. Finally they mentioned that we could come back about an hour later. We left, got Jordyn a hot dog and ice cream, and then she was ready to go. Round 2 went much better. :)

These were our 2 favorite family pictures ...

When we tried to get pictures of just Jordyn, this is what happened ...
It is a pretty precious picture though. :)

This was one they got before she started crying ... we love how it shows off her eyes ... just wish there was a smile to go with it ...
Here are pictures from our second time (minus the beautiful hair bow - I didn't want to create any other problems).
She just looks so big!
I love this picture ...
Jordyn loves to hug our legs, so I was so glad they asked to take a picture like that!

And one final picture that was a favorite ...
We were so happy to get some of Jordyn's beautiful smiles on camera.

After pictures we shopped for a little while at the mall.

Today we went to church (finally)! Jordyn has been sick 4 of the last 5 Sundays and the other Sunday we were at my parent's church. It was nice to worship at our own church again! People probably thought we had joined a different church since it had been so long since we had been there! Justin's grandparents go to the same church as us - Great Grandma Marcia had so much fun showing off Jordyn to all of her friends today. :)

This afternoon we all took a nap and then headed out to do some afternoon shopping.

Now Jordyn is in bed, and Justin and I are going to watch The Proposal and some football, of course!

Have a great week!
