Pictures Galore!

Hi friends! We don't have a lot of news to share from the last 2 days. We are staying busy as usual. Yesterday we went to church, took naps, played outside, and I went for a run while Justin and Jordyn went for a walk (and they took shortcuts to meet up with me while I was running).

Here's a few pictures we took before church yesterday ...

I thought this picture of the three of us turned out pretty good considering Justin was taking it ... we managed to get Jordyn to look and give a little grin. :)
Today was beautiful outside ... but for the first time all summer I just couldn't get myself to go for a walk! What was I thinking?! Actually, my legs were a little sore from my run last night, and I had lots to do around the house today, so we just didn't get the walk in. We did get in a little pool time though. :) Tonight we had dinner with my 2nd grade teaching team! It was nice to see them again! Thanks Nancy, for hosting!

A few pictures from tonight ... Jordyn was worn out when we got home!
Check out this cute dress that Justin picked out!
Being silly!
Reaching for the camera ... before we know it, she'll be taking the pictures!
Swimming ... ha! Jordyn has NO interest in crawling. Should we be concerned? She ONLY wants to walk. In fact, she doesn't really even want to sit anymore. She cries and grunts until we help her stand and walk.
I just love these two ...

We have a busy day tomorrow, so it's time to sign off and head to bed! :)

Just had to share a few pictures of Justin and Darin playing Dance Dance Revolution!

Justin is pretty good ... :)
Darin could use a little practice. :)

A Trip To The Zoo!

Today we took Jordyn to the zoo! Sioux Falls has a small, but nice zoo. It's perfect for little kids - we saw about everything in less than 2 hours. Just enough time in between Jordyn's morning and afternoon naps. :) The weather was perfect today to be at the zoo! Jordyn seemed to have a good time. She was interested in some of the animals, she did a lot of talking as loud as she could, and just enjoyed riding in her stroller. She loves her stroller!

Here we are ready to go into the zoo ... Jordyn was much more interested in checking out the other people than looking at Dad for the picture.
Loving the stroller ...
Look closely - there's a large alligator in the background of this picture!
Jordyn's favorite animal at the zoo ... (and it was so super cute to see the mom take care of the baby!)
Checking out the monkeys with Mom ...
Very interested in the monkeys!
Please ignore my ridiculous expression, but check out how cute Jordyn's expression is!
Onto the carousel with Dad!
Smiling for Mommy!
Sitting on the gorilla ...
Jordyn liked the carousel at first, but didn't care for it by the end.
At the end of our zoo trip ... getting tired ... heading home just in time for a nap!
I can't wait until she's a little older and we can take her to the Omaha Zoo and Minnesota Zoo.

Tooth #2!

Jordyn's 2nd tooth has started to make an appearance! Yesterday I just happened to look at her first tooth, and then I realized the second one was coming too! I really expected Jordyn to be fussy when her teeth starting to come in, but I was wrong. She hasn't been fussy at all! She's one tough little girl! As soon as I can get a good picture of her teeth, I'll post it. (but she still thinks it's fun to hide her teeth with her tongue when Mom wants to see)

Jordyn and I went on a long walk this morning, and we played in the pool for about an hour this afternoon. Jordyn and I were playing and she fell face first into the water (from a sitting position). I was right there, but I couldn't stop her from going under (the water is only 3-4 inches deep). I thought for sure she would scream, but she giggled and started splashing as soon as I picked her up. Boy did she scream though when I took her out of the pool after an hour! Teeth don't bother her, but making her get out of the pool sure does! She calmed down though once I put her in the bathtub ... swimming to the bath ... she thought it was great!

We have a busy night planned! Justin's dad turns 50 today, and Justin's brother is flying in from Ohio! We are looking forward to seeing Darin. He hasn't been home since Easter. We are having dinner at our house with Justin's family and grandparents. Should be a fun night!

Happy 50th!

Justin's dad turns 50 today!
Happy Birthday!
We love you!

She's Growing Way Too Fast!

Our baby girl is growing so quickly. We are nearing 8 months already! I know I say this often, but I truly cannot believe how fast time goes! Jordyn amazes us everyday, and it is so much fun to watch her explore, grow, and learn! Three things that tell me Jordyn is growing too fast ...

#1: Teeth
As mentioned in a previous post, Jordyn's first tooth is coming in. Yesterday it popped up a little more, and today even a little more ... however, taking a picture isn't too easy. This is the best I got ...Don't worry if you can't see it. I can hardly see it, and I know exactly where it's supposed to be. (and no, it's not the white spot in the upper left side of her mouth ... that was just a glare) The tooth is on the bottom. She loves to hide her tooth with her tongue whenever Mom wants to look at it.

#2: Standing
Jordyn loves to stand right now. Some days I think she will skip the whole crawling stage, and go right to walking. She can stand against the couch ... (of course we're right behind her to catch her fall eventually)
She gets very proud of herself when we cheer for her!
Watching her shadow on the couch ...
Jordyn also loves to walk around if we hold her hands. It's so cute. Tonight Devin is staying with us (she's taking a test here in SF tomorrow morning ... Good Luck, Devin!) and Jordyn walked around the entire living room and kitchen with her! Her little legs had to be tired! She worked hard!

#3: Juice and Sippy Cups
Jordyn loves apple juice, and she really loves her sippy cup! She has a hard time holding it and actually getting juice out on her own (she can't figure out how to tip it up), but she tries hard. We usually end up holding it for her, but she does a great job drinking from it. Tonight she was being silly for us (and maybe showing off for Auntie Devin), but she was pretty funny!
Making sure Auntie Devin was watching her ...
These were just a couple of cute pictures that I took tonight and wanted to share. :)

Although Jordyn is growing so quickly (and that makes me a little sad), and I am incredibly thankful for a healthy girl!

Today I am so thankful for my family ... and why does it take such a horrible act for me to be reminded of that??

Today, a 24 year old committed a senseless act - he shot and killed his former high school football coach in Parkersburg, Iowa.

Parkersburg is about 15 miles from where I went to college. I had some very good friends from this community, so I am very familiar with it, as well as their football program.

Coach Thomas was not only known throughout Iowa, he was known throughout the United States.

Please pray for this community during such a tragic time. This is the same community that was destroyed last May when a tornado ripped through the town. Lots of devastation in the last year. Prayers are needed.

And I am once again reminded today, that I am just so blessed and thankful for my family.

Wound Up!

Jordyn was so wound up tonight! We probably didn't help out any ... at 9:00, which is normally her time to eat a bowl of cereal and then milk and then go to bed, the three of us were dancing and singing around the house. (Yes, we're weird like that ... but we love to do it ... and so does Jordyn!) Jordyn could not stop giggling/screeching/screaming. It was so funny! Here she is with her daddy ...Showing off her dance moves ...
All smiles!
She danced so much she needed a break ... but still all smiles ...
And finally in her high chair for her cereal ... still wound up ...
We're willing to give up a little sleep time for lots of fun, smiles, and giggles! Of course getting her down to sleep has been a little challenging, but she does a pretty good job of putting herself to sleep in her crib - not without playing and rolling for the first 20 minutes though! It's fun to listen to her on the monitor talking to herself.

Justin and I are watching Deadliest Catch right now. This is one show that I thought I would NEVER like - I was wrong. I am totally into it right now. Time to sign off - I need to pay attention to the show!

Good Night!

HOT Day!

Summer sure arrived with some very HOT weather! I'm not complaining though ... I love hot weather, and it is much better than the cold, rainy weather that we had for about 3 weeks straight.

Jordyn and I went on a long walk this morning. I love our morning walks. We left Gizmo home today - either he wasn't feeling well, or he was going through his day of depression like he always does after we've been at either my parent's house or Justin's parents' house. (since they each have a dog for Gizmo to play with)

Justin came home over lunch today so that I could go to the fitness center to get in a run and some weights. After my work out, Jordyn and I spent an hour playing in her pool. I love that we can put her pool on the deck, and half of the pool is in the shade, and half is in the sun. It works out perfectly! I also love that the pool completely wears her out, and she goes down for a nap as soon as she is changed and fed.

We had such a nice day! :) Sounds like we're in for some more hot weather tomorrow. We'll have to walk early again and spend some more time in the pool!

On a side note ... Jordyn's 1st tooth is starting to make an appearance! Other than chewing on everything and drooling constantly, she seems to be handling it just fine. I haven't taken a picture yet because it's just barely there.

Sorry - no pictures to share today. I'll share some soon though!

Happy Father's Day!

Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad.

Happy Father's Day, Justin!
Jordyn is so blessed to have such a wonderful dad in her life. I absolutely love watching Justin play and talk with Jordyn. He shares so much love with her and cares for her so much.

The first man a girl falls in love with is her daddy.

Justin and I are both blessed to have two wonderful dads in our lives ... we want to say Happy Father's to our dads!

Fathers Are Wonderful People

Fathers are wonderful people
Too little understood,
And we do not sing their praises
As often as we should...

For, somehow, Father seems to be
The man who pays the bills,
While Mother binds up little hurts
And nurses all our ills...

And Father struggles daily
To live up to "HIS IMAGE"
As protector and provider
And "hero or the scrimmage"...

And perhaps that is the reason
We sometimes get the notion,
That Fathers are not subject
To the thing we call emotion,

But if you look inside Dad's heart,
Where no one else can see
You'll find he's sentimental
And as "soft" as he can be...

But he's so busy every day
In the grueling race of life,
He leaves the sentimental stuff
To his partner and his wife...

But Fathers are just WONDERFUL
In a million different ways,
And they merit loving compliments
And accolade of praise,

For the only reason Dad aspires
To fortune and success
Is to make the family proud of him
And to bring them happiness...

He's a guardian and a guide,
Someone that we can count on

Happy Father's Day!

Weekend :)

I can't believe how fast time goes. I didn't realize it had already been 3 days since I updated! Justin was out of town on Thursday/Friday, so I guess I got a little behind on everything. Oh wait, I'm always behind on everything. :)

Jordyn and I have spent a lot of time outside now that the weather is finally starting to seem like summer! Here's a couple pool pictures from Thursday ...

Jordyn just loves the pool! :)

We have also spent a lot of time going on walks the last few days. Jordyn LOVES to sit in the front of the stroller and watch Gizmo run ahead of her. We usually go on 2-3 walks a day!

Jordyn was excited to see Daddy on Friday ... and she was even more excited that he had a popsicle. Jordyn was so funny - she wanted to hold the popsicle, but then she would touch it and realize it was really cold, so she would throw her hands back and giggle, and then do it again. We got it on video camera too ... sorry, I don't have the video uploaded to share ... a picture will have to do. :)
Today we spent a little more time in the pool. Here's Jordyn ready to go outside ...
Her hat and dress are from St. Thomas. Justin's parents (and aunts, uncles, and grandparents) went on a cruise back in March. They got Jordyn clothes from the islands they stopped at. Stay tuned for a future post of our little world traveler dressed in all of her outfits.

BJ and Devin spent a good portion of the day with us today. It was so much fun to have them over this afternoon. They played with Jordyn, and then while she was taking a nap, we played the wii. Last night we bought DDR to go with the wii ... it's definitely good for a laugh! We went out for dinner with BJ and Devin tonight, and then they headed home and we headed to the mall to get a few things.

It's almost 10:25, and we're still listening to Jordyn talk through the monitor. For some reason she's fighting bedtime tonight. (We've been working on going to sleep for about an hour - this is not like her at all.) Her first tooth is starting to make an appearance, so it's possible that is our problem. She is very tired right now, but fighting sleep. Hopefully she falls asleep soon. :)

Our Little Fish!

We are having a great day! We woke up to sunshine! Yay!!! Jordyn and I ran a quick errand this morning, and then we headed off on our morning walk.

Here's Jordyn and Gizmo before the walk. They were so excited to go! (and Jordyn thinks it's great when Gizmo comes near her - she wants to play with him so bad)
Jordyn took a 2 hour nap after our walk, and then it was time for the pool! We bought Jordyn a little pool about 4 weeks ago, but we haven't been able to use it because the weather has been so crummy. I got it out today, and she LOVED it! After an hour I decided we better head in the house. She wasn't too thrilled when I took her out!

Here's our little fish ...

I hope the sun stays out for the rest of day, but they are predicting more rain and storms for late afternoon/evening. I hope they're wrong. I am heading to the fitness center when Justin gets home from work, and I am hoping to go one more walk with all of us tonight.

Have a great afternoon!
