Yay for the weekend!

Just wanted to wish you all a great weekend - and share two of my favorite pictures of Jordyn from the last few days!

My good friend, Katie, sent Jordyn these Baby GAP clothes back in November. I had no idea that it would take Jordyn so long to grow into 3-6 month clothes! She's finally getting there! Thanks, Katie, for adorable clothes!

Enjoy your weekend!

We're Spoiled!

Jordyn and I received a surprise today when we got home. We walked into the house and found out that Daddy had stopped home at some point today ... and he left a little surprise for both of us ...

If you know me, you know that I LOVE comfy work-out clothes ... so Jordyn and I both got new comfy clothes today. :) I love my new pink UnderAmour jacket! We are so spoiled!

Love ya Justin!

These pictures are actually from last Saturday - but I still wanted to share them. Grandpa and Grandma VanBriesen stopped by to see Jordyn. She gets a little spoiled from both sets of grandparents. :)

Words only - no pictures

We have had another busy week ... and sorry, no time to do an update with pictures tonight. We are really looking forward to our weekend - it will be our second attempt at Jordyn's baptism. (If you're wondering what I'm talking about, go back to the beginning of the February posts.) This time it will be a little different, and it is just going to be a family baptism. So, we're praying that all goes as planned this time! :)
Speaking of being sick, Jordyn just can't seem to kick this RSV/cold. Our poor little girl is still coughing. She had gone 1 week without the cough ... but it didn't take long for it to make a return appearance. We only made it 3 days without the breathing monitor - not because it has been going off, but because she still has the cough, her doctor felt we should continue to use it. We will see her doctor again next week because ... next week is Jordyn's 4 month appointment! Can you believe she's almost 4 months old?? Last Monday Jordyn weighed13 pounds, so we're curious to see what she weighs next week.
I'm off to bed. Justin and Jordyn are already there - and this is the earliest we've been ready for bed in a long time. Good night!
PS-If any of you have a remedy for some HORRIBLE shin splints, I would love to hear it. I am finally getting back into running shape, but I feel like I am constantly being stabbed with knives in the legs (even when I'm not running - walking up the steps is almost worse than running). Please share if you have ideas. :)

An Incredible Dad :)

Justin is absolutely an incredible father to Jordyn. He just loves her to pieces ... and we can see that Jordyn loves him right back. She loves to giggle at all of the faces her daddy makes at her.

There are so many days that I wish I had a notebook sitting by me when I listen to the conversations that Justin has with Jordyn. I would love to write down what they talk about! And some days, I wish I could be a fly on the wall when he is home alone with her. I just love watching the way he loves and takes care of Jordyn. When I came home from working out this morning, I found the two of them snuggled under a blanket on the floor. So sweet!

Such a picture moment. :)
Justin later informed that while I was gone, they made fort with the blanket and hid under it. I'm not sure who enjoys kid things more ... Jordyn or Justin! He said Jordyn loved hiding under the blanket with him.
It melts my heart watching how wonderful he is with our daughter.

Then and Now!

Here's Jordyn when she was 3 weeks old (in my favorite sleeper) ...

Here's Jordyn today at 16 weeks old (same sleeper, just 1 size bigger) ...

Children's Hospital

Today we went and toured the new Sanford Children's Hospital! Wow, what an incredible place! We told Jordyn to take one good look at it, because she was never going back. :)

It's past my bedtime, but an update was needed!

It is 11:30 on Friday night, and I am finally getting around to writing an update about our week! Justin and I both had Monday off for President's Day. It was so nice to have another day at home with Jordyn! Our morning started off with a trip back to the doctor. Jordyn's cough just sounded horrible. The doctor felt that Jordyn had picked up another little viral bug at daycare. So ... back on the breathing monitor (we made it 2 days without it) and back to the nebulizer (we made it 1 week without it). Bummer! He said we needed to continue using these things until her cough was gone. Our hope was that by today it would be gone ... unfortunately it's not. Her cough isn't getting worse, but I can't really say that it's getting better. We're ready for her to be done coughing - we feel so bad for her! She has been a little fussier with this cold than she was with RSV. Poor girl! Back to Monday ... after the doctor, we spent our day picking up the house, working on taxes (fun, I know!), and running a few errands. Can you believe that Jordyn napped for a grand total of 1 hour the ENTIRE day?!? She was such a giggly and chatty baby the whole day. We couldn't believe that she wasn't sleeping! She must have really enjoyed having Mommy and Daddy home for an extra day. But, wouldn't you know it, the second our company walked in the door on Monday night, Jordyn lost it and just cried - and she didn't want anyone to hold her. She finally took a little nap, got up to eat, and then slept through the night. :)
Anyway, here's a quick picture from Monday - playing with the fish and her ball.
Justin's parents, grandparents, and his cousin (Jamie) and her husband and boys came to our house for dinner on Monday night. We really enjoyed having them over! We attempted a picture of the great-grandchildren ... attempt is the best word, because this was the best we got. :) They're all still cute though! Jordyn is going to have learn to be a tomboy - she is going to have so many boys in her life!
Grandpa and Grandma Overman with Jordyn!
Tuesday-Thursday were normal busy days with work, trying to keep up on the housework, getting in a few of our favorite TV shows, and of course plenty of snuggle time with Jordyn! (along with an hour and twenty minute phone call with my friend, Nichole ... thanks for calling! I miss you lots!)
Jordyn is still into hand-sucking!
Bath time on Thursday night! She still loves bath time!

Snuggling with her toys in her crib.
Tonight we went out for dinner with our friends, Brad and Ashley! We had such a wonderful time. It was so nice to visit with them. We ate at Old Chicago (YUM!), and then they came over to our house for a few hours. This is just the third time we have hung out with friends since Jordyn was born. Thanks Brad and Ashley for spending the evening with us!
Here's a picture of Jordyn ready to go to Old Chicago!
That's all for now. It's way past my bedtime! We are looking forward to another relaxing weekend! We hope yours is relaxing as well!

Oh what a day!

I promise a longer update is coming ... but some you told me you were wondering if we were all okay since I hadn't updated in a few days. Yep, we're fine ... just tired and behind on everything this week. :)
Here's how my day went ... good day at school until my breast pump stopped working today at school. I knew it would be coming - I knocked it off my desk a few weeks ago. Way to go, Jess! Hmmm ... maybe that was same day I knocked over 4 ounces of milk on my desk too! Maybe I should have just gone to feed Jordyn at the daycare that day!
Needless to say, I can't exactly go without a pump, so off to Target to purchase a new $250 pump! My last one wasn't quite that expensive, and now that I know more about them, I decided to buy a more expensive one this time. This one even came in a bag so I shouldn't have any problems with knocking it off my desk this time!
Oh - I did I mention Jordyn had blowout #2 of the week at daycare? Tuesday's outfit was a brand new outfit (still working on those stains) and today's outfit .... well, it's one of my favorites, but I have found that each time I put it on Jordyn, she's guaranteed a blow out! (still working on those stains too ... we scrub, soak, wash, scrub, soak, wash ... hopeful the stains come out)
Even with a little bad luck the last few days, being a mom is still the best thing in the world (being a wife is too).
Time to make some dinner, and I hope to post more later!

Weekend Recap

We are really enjoying our weekend - and even more excited that we still have one more day at home tomorrow! Our Valentine's Day was very relaxing. As mentioned before, my parents, BJ, and Devin stopped by for a little while. Grandpa Buzz and Grandma Ronda brought Jordyn this book for Valentine's Day ...I guess it was one of my favorite books as a child. It is so cute! We have already read it a few times. :)
Justin's grandparents stopped by with a little gift for Jordyn last night. We were just getting ready to leave the house, so Jordyn was already in her carseat. Great Grandpa Gerry and Great Grandma Marcia brought Jordyn a Valentine bear. She loved it! She kept rubbing the soft fur, and she was full of smiles for Great Grandma Marcia.

After Gerry and Marcia left, we headed to the mall. We needed to get out of the house for a little while, and we thought Jordyn would like a stroller ride. We ate supper at the mall and went into a few stores, but mostly we just wanted some exercise.
This is what Jordyn did for every store worker that came up and talked to her ...
Here's Daddy showing off new Oakley sunglasses - he looks a little scary in them when he's not smiling. (Hence the name of the Oakley glasses ... Inmate)
Snuggling with Daddy :)
After church today we attempted to take a few family pictures. This of course isn't incredibly easy when you're using the timer and trying to get a baby to look too. (We even attempted some with the dog, but those did not turn out at all.)
Jordyn and Daddy
Awww Dad!
Jordyn loves her Daddy!
Snuggling with Mommy!
After church, pictures, and lunch, we all took a much needed nap! Yes, we did manage to watch some of the Daytona 500 - too bad it ended with rain. The winner only led one lap - the last lap. In my dad's words "I guess he led the best lap!"
Jordyn is coming down with a pretty bad cough - so we will probably be heading to the doctor in the morning. We want to be extra cautious since she just got over the RSV. It may just be a little cold, but after RSV, everything makes us nervous!
Time to feed Jordyn - she's been a hungry girl today! She must be growing!
Good Night! Love ... The Overmans

Daddy & Jordyn's Nascar Conversation

As I was getting ready for church this morning ... this is the conversation I heard Justin and Jordyn having in her room ...
Daddy: Jordyn! Today is Nascar's Daytona 500! Since this is your first race, I'll fill you in on how to watch one. We watch the beginning of the race, take a loooong nap during the race, and wake up just in time for the last 10 laps! It's only the last few laps that matter anyway!
Of course Jordyn's response ... lots of smiles and her trying to talk.
Happy Daytona 500 Sunday! You now know what we'll be doing today! :)

Happy Birthday, Devin!

Happy Birthday, Devin!

Devin will be my sister-in-law very soon! BJ and Devin are getting married in June! We are so excited! And ... Devin is going to be our live-in baby-sitter very soon! (Right, Devin? :)) She is going to be staying at our house for a few weeks while she does one of her pharmacy rotations in Sioux Falls. We told her she could stay here with the rule that she had to baby-sit Jordyn once a week. (That was actually Justin's rule.) Anyway, Happy Birthday! We love ya!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day, Friends! We hope that you are having a wonderful day!
Our day has been pretty low-key and relaxing. Jordyn slept in until 7:30 today! :) She's such a good sleeper. She has been sleeping through the night since she was about 6 weeks old, but her normal wake up time is about 5:45/6:00 since that what time I have to get her up during the week. I guess we must have worn her out yesterday, because she made it until 7:30 this morning! I loved having the WHOLE day to spend with Jordyn yesterday. We read lots of books, sang lots of songs, played with her play yard, played with her doll, and had lots of tummy time. (but she decided she had had enough with the whole rolling thing and wouldn't do it for me at all) Check out these cute pictures of her "reading" her book on her own!

Daddy came home from work yesterday with Jordyn's Valentine present ... a Bumbo chair! She does great it in! She loves to sit up (she used to hate it), so we thought this would be perfect for her. I highly recommend buying one of these if you have a baby between 3 months and 14 months! (I think those are the ages for it anyway.) I definitely got a laugh though when I looked at the box and saw they have a Bumbo seat for potty training! The picture was pretty funny! I'm not sure that we'll consider buying that one!
Here we are at about 6:00 AM on Thursday morning ... Jordyn was all giggles and smiles until we attempted a picture. Oh well! I guess we can't have smiles in all of them! (and come on, who really wants to be happy at the time of the day anyway?!! ... actually she's incredibly happy in the morning)
A little tummy time ... notice the cords still coming out of her clothes ... those are for the breathing monitor. (She wasn't actually hooked up to the monitor in this picture - those are just the sensors.)
This picture actually shows where the sensors are hooked up on Jordyn. We have to strap them through her diaper and then pull them out through her onesie and then her clothes. Then they hook up to the actual monitor. Every once in a while she'll give them a little tug, but overall she doesn't mess with them. But ... GREAT news ... we are done with the breathing monitor!!! Yay! No more sensors and no more carrying the monitor on my shoulder like it's my purse!

(PS-Check out the rolls on those thighs! She's gaining weight!)

Justin and Jordyn are both taking naps right now. We may go out an run a few errands when everyone is awake, but other than that, not much for plans. My parents, BJ, and Devin stopped by earlier this afternoon. Jordyn loved snuggling with her Uncle BJ. (I think Uncle BJ loved it too. :))

Again, Happy Valentine's Day!

Love ... The Overmans
