Dr. Appointment

Today I had another doctor appointment. Overall, we received good news from the doctor. She was surprised to see how swollen my right foot left foot has no swelling at all. She feels it must be from the pressure of how the baby is positioned. (The dr. had a good time pushing on my foot and watching how her fingerprints would stay for quite some time.) The dr. had a hard time finding the heartbeat today, so I panicked for a second, but Baby Overman was kicking the whole time, so I knew she was fine. The heartbeat sounded great!!! We also found out that the baby is breech right now. I asked how common it is for the baby to turn and she said about 15% would still turn before delivery. I am 30 weeks along right now, and she said that if the baby hadn't turned by week 36, we would have a little extra talking to do about the next step. I am not worried at all right now. The baby is healthy, and to me that is the most important thing!

I am done with another week of school! We have Friday - Monday off, which will be a great break. I do have to run to school for a little while tomorrow morning, but it shouldn't take too long to get ready for next week. Then I'm off to get a pedicure...I decided it was time to treat myself. :)

As I mentioned in the last post, we have a very busy weekend ahead of us. And...besides all that we have planned, we have my sisters and 4 of their friends staying at our place from Friday night until Monday morning. They are going to Life Light here in Sioux Falls and are planning on crashing here. So, we will have a full place!

I will update again after our busy weekend! Happy Labor Day Weekend! To my MN teacher friends...enjoy your last weekend of summer!!! :)

Finally a new update

I have been a little slow at updating recently! Time is flying by and and free time seems hard to come by now that school has started. I can hardly imagine what it will be like when Baby Overman arrives!

I have had 7 days of school already. I have 18 students in my class - such a small class! Things have been going really well, and I am really enjoying 2nd grade! It is definitely an adjustment from 4th grade, but I am really liking it. John Harris is a wonderful elementary school. I feel very blessed to be a teacher there!

Justin and I took a baby class this past Friday evening/all day Saturday. We had a great time. I am feeling much more prepared for the arrival of Baby Overman ... I don't think you could ever feel completely prepared, but I definitely feel better after taking the class. Justin was such a trooper at the class. What a wonderful husband ... he has been so supportive through the whole pregnancy.

We are currently house hunting in Sioux Falls. On Sunday we looked at 9 houses and tonight we looked at 4 more houses! We have found a couple that we liked, but we are still interested in looking a little more. Of course we would love to be moved into a house before the baby arrives, but we also know this is a big decision, so rushing into it isn't the way to go either. We are scheduled to look at more next Tuesday. (the rest of our week/weekend is very busy)

This weekend we are celebrating Justin's grandparent's 50th Anniversary! The whole family will be here for a family golf tournament (believe it or not, I'm going to attempt to golf with my big belly :)), an anniversary party, church/brunch, and a baby shower for us! That is all on Saturday and Sunday! We will be very busy, but it will be a fun weekend.

I probably won't have time to update until after the weekend. So...enjoy the rest of your week and have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Happy Puppy!

I just have to share a quick picture of Gizmo. He absolutely loves the camera - whenever I take it out, he poses for me. He has been such a happy puppy lately. :)

Have a great weekend!

Minnesota Vacation

Growing up, our family went to a resort in New London, MN (near Willmar, MN) for one week each summer. I remember having a count down each year until we could return. We met some wonderful friends at this resort and have so many great memories. Unfortunately, due to schedules, our family was unable to go to the resort for the last 4 years. I guess planning got a little more difficult once all 4 kids were out of school! Out of my 25 years, I had gone to this resort every year except 6! (2 years we went to Alexandria) The last 4 years were so difficult to try and get a vacation planned due to to the schedules of my parents, my brother, my sisters, and myself. Thankfully, we were able to make it work to go back this year!! My family was staying for the whole week - Justin and I were only able to be there for 2 days due to his job and my interview. Even though we were only there for 2 days, we had a wonderful time!

Not only was my whole family there, but my grandparents were there, along with my aunt, uncle, cousins, and their kids. We don't see my cousins too often, so we had a great time seeing them!

Justin was able to go bass fishing with my dad and brother - Justin hadn't fished in a long time, so he was excited! Here are a couple of pictures of them as they were leaving...

I also had the opportunity to do a little fishing! I can honestly say it had been at least 10 years since I had touched a fishing pole. My sisters love to fish, so I made them do all of the work. The only thing I did on my own was cast, reel, and cheer when I caught a fish. I left all of the other work up to them. :) I tried hard to catch the lunker, but as you can see from my pictures, I basically caught fish that would have made good bait!

Here is a picture of Kayla with her bass that she caught. I tried to hard to catch a bass, but I had no luck!

Here is Kandi holding my huge fish that I caught. My hook accidentally ripped his lip. I made Kandi take the fish off of my hook. I usually don't mind touching fish, but Kandi does such a nice job, I thought she might like to take care of my fish.

We also spent Sunday afternoon swimming. Here is Justin with my cousin's son, Kory. They were on the wave rocker - I bet you can guess who won at this game!

My parents, sisters, cousin Lanaya, and myself lounging in the lake...

Kandi and I...I don't think it's really very necessary for pictures of a pregnant lady in a swimming suit, but they all thought it was necessary!

Kayla and I ... again, not really a necessary picture!

Justin with Addysin (my cousin Nikki's daughter). Addysin is in love with Justin!

Justin with Dustin and Kory (Nikki's boys).

We have many more pictures, but they are on my sister's camera - so I'll have to wait until she shares those with me!

It has sure been a whirlwind of events since coming home Sunday night. After interviewing and accepting the 2nd grade job yesterday, I feel like I have been busy non-stop. My head is spinning with all that I have to do! We had an open house tonight - I met all of my students and their parents. I am looking forward to the school year, but I can hardly believe that school starts on Monday!

To our Owatonna friends-we will be in Owatonna late Saturday night (around 9:30 or 10:00) ... we are planning on going down to the fair, so we hope to see you! We are moving the rest of our things out of our house - I am sure it will feel a little weird leaving the house for the last time.

That's all for now!

God has provided!

The most fitting word for our year is the word CHANGE. Everything from our jobs, to an upcoming addition to our family, to living in a new community, and even to 2 new cars has changed this year.

While I will admit the move to Sioux Falls was an incredibly difficult one for me, God has truly provided for us, and I am feeling more confident that it was a change we had to make. Of course this doesn't make me not miss Owatonna, but it is starting to make my transition to living here easier.

On Sunday afternoon I was called for an interview for Monday morning for a 2nd grade position at John Harris Elementary in Sioux Falls. I interviewed at 9:30 and was offered the job by 11:10. When they called to offer the job, they told me I had until 11:30 to get to a new teacher lunch and orientation! Talk about a whirlwind of events! I spent the afternoon going through orientation, and then I went back to the school to see my classroom. I am very excited about the job - the principal and the staff members that I have met so far have been incredibly nice! Tomorrow is already the open house for the students and their families - so, I don't have a whole lot of time to get my room ready, but I know the parents will be very understanding. I am looking forward to meeting my students and their families. I am joining a school with very high parent involvement - I am excited to share my classroom with them!

We have so many things going on right now - 2 new jobs, beginning the house search in Sioux Falls, preparing for a baby, and trying to finish up things with our house in Owatonna. We are feeling very blessed right now that things are falling into place.

We spent the weekend with my family in Willmar, MN. They are staying for the whole week, but Justin and I came back last night. We spent some time fishing and swimming. I hadn't fished in atleast 10 years - what an experience. I think my sisters were tired of helping me. I tried to catch the "lunker", but all I caught were some fish that were about the size of bait. I will update in a couple of days with pictures from our weekend trip. We had a great time! We wish we could have stayed longer, but we are thrilled to say that we had a great reason for coming back - for my interview!

Good night for now... :)

Our house is sold!

Great news! Our house sold on Friday! Technically we don't close on it until the end of August, but the purchase agreements are signed! We are so excited! The house was only on the market for 33 days so we feel very fortunate to have sold the house so fast! We loved our house in Owatonna - hopefully we can find one similar to it in Sioux Falls. I am excited to begin looking for a new house here. We will probably begin looking very soon! Here's a picture of our Owatonna house - the rose bushes were absolutely beautiful in June so I had to take a few pictures.
We spent the weekend with our families. On Friday night we went to my parents' house and had supper with them. We spent the rest of the weekend at Okoboji at Justin's parents' condo. We had beautiful weather. We spent several hours at the pool on Saturday, ad we were on the boat for a few hours on Sunday. My parents, brother, and Devin were in Sioux Falls on Sunday, so we had supper with them on Sunday night. It is nice living close to family! We had a great weekend!
Other than our house selling, we don't have a lot of other news to update you on. We hope you're staying cool in this very hot weather!
