Falls Park

Two updates in 3 days - this will probably be a new record for me! :)

We are starting to feel settled in our town home. Most of our stuff is unpacked, furniture is in place, and pictures on the walls! Now, if our house would sell, things would be great!!

Justin and I visited Falls Park on Saturday evening. This is an absolutely beautiful place in Sioux Falls. We used to go here growing up and even a few times on some of our dates in high school. We had a great time, and it's such a relaxing place to visit! Here a few pictures that we took of the falls...

While we were there, we decided to rent a 2 person bike. Sounded like a great idea ... and it was great going downhill. Unfortunately, going uphill wasn't easy at all. We actually had to get off the bike and Justin had to push it up every hill. We got quite a laugh out of this - as did all of the people around us! I think it was a laugh that we both needed after being completely worn out (and a little stressed out) from our move. Here is a picture of Justin pushing our bike up the hill...

When we finally made it to the falls on the bike, we were able to get a few pictures...

And one final picture - Justin thought a baby bump picture was necessary.

Have a great week!

Thanks!

Justin and I (along with the help from our parents and some other relatives) packed up our house in Owatonna yesterday and unpacked everything in our town home in Sioux Falls last night. Thanks so much to our families for all of their help! Since I'm not able to lift much, I didn't seem to be much help with moving boxes. Fortunately, I could have everyone bring the boxes to me, and I could unpack them.

The week before we left was a busy one! Besides packing and finishing up summer school and Justin's last week of work, we had 2 going away parties and a baby shower! The McKinley staff had a get together at Plaza for me! It was so wonderful to see so many McKinley staff members come say good-bye to me. There were over 30 people there! I had such a great time - Thanks to everyone who was able to join us that day!

Last Friday, some friends (Nichole, Janeen, and Ellen) threw me a baby shower! We met at Sportsman's Grille, ate lunch/cake, and opened gifts. Justin and I received many wonderful gifts for Baby Overman - we can't wait for her arrival so she can enjoy the gifts as much as we do! Thanks so much to Nichole, Janeen, and Ellen for organizing the shower for me ... and thanks so much to those of you who were able to come. I am so glad that I was able to spend time with all of you! Here are a few pictures from the shower...

Me with the cake and gifts...

The diaper cake that Jen K. made for me! So cute! (The fanciest diaper cake I've ever seen!!!)

Thanks to Janeen, Nichole, and Ellen for organizing such a wonderful shower!

All of our baby gifts that we received at the shower! Thanks so much!

After the shower, we had a happy hour/dinner with some Federated friends. Again, thanks so much to the friends who organized this. It was so great to spend time with all of you.

Like I have mentioned many times, we will miss the community of Owatonna. We are truly blessed to have made so many friends while living in Owatonna. The friends that we made will always be close to our heart. We are only 3 hours from Owatonna, so we will plan to visit often!!

"A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart."

We aren't quite done unpacking everything in our town home - we will probably be about done tomorrow. Gizmo isn't sure what to think. He seems to be a little confused ... all of his things are here, familiar furniture, but it's not his house. He has been doing a little pouting for us. He's doing such a great job of getting us ready kids!

I will update again soon once we feel a little more settled in Sioux Falls. Have a great weekend!

"Lasts" and "Firsts"

We had our last doctor appointment in Owatonna for Baby Overman today. Dr. Schultz thought her heartbeat sounded great, and he even got to feel her kick. She has been showing off her boxing and soccer abilities a lot the last 2 days. In fact she's been hitting and kicking for what seems like 24 hours straight! Hopefully I can get a little more sleep tonight than I did last night! :)

I have found a new doctor in Sioux Falls, and I have heard great things about her. We will meet with her in about 4 weeks. We will truly miss Dr. Schultz though. He has been absolutely wonderful to us. He has been the doctor that I have seen at every appointment (which has been MANY) for the last 18 months. Dr. Schultz is such a kind and caring person - we will definitely miss him!

We spent the evening with a group of friends - so sad to think we don't have too many of those times left. Justin played in his last sand volleyball game tonight. We are thankful for the opportunity to have met these wonderful people and created great relationships with them. We will miss them!

We will definitely have many "lasts" in the next 10 days. With each of the those "lasts", things seem to be a little bit more difficult for me. I am trying to stay focused on the new "firsts" that we will have coming our way when we move next week. I can't believe that we are less than 2 weeks away from our move. Please continue to pray that our move goes smoothly.

Tomorrow the McKinley staff is having a little get-together for me. They are such wonderful people! I am looking forward to seeing them and spending time with them before we leave.

I better sign off for now - there is packing to be done!

Summer fun!

We hope that you had a great 4th of July! We spent Thursday night at my parents' hog roast, Friday morning/afternoon in George, and then we spent Friday night-Sunday afternoon at Okoboji. We had a a wonderful weekend, and it was great to spend time with our families! I don't have too many pictures from the weekend, but I tried to take some of the fireworks at Okoboji. (I need to get the pictures from the hog roast from my sisters.)

Gizmo got to go on his first boat ride on Saturday. He thought it was great until a big wave splashed him right in the face. Then he wasn't so sure what to think!

We have been busy trying to make all of the plans that go along with moving. There are sure lots of details to take care of! We're still hopeful that our house will sell soon! What a relief that would be! Our deck has been finished for a little over week. The guys got a lot of work done on it the weekend before the 4th, and then Justin and I finished right before we went home for the 4th. I'm sure our neighbors are thrilled that they don't have to listen to sawing and drilling anymore! The deck looks great - they did a very nice job! I know Justin is very relieved to be done with it!

We are planning on moving in about 2 weeks. We're working out the details of where we are moving to. Once our house here sells, we can begin looking for a new one in Sioux Falls. We'll keep you updated on where we are moving to! Have a great weekend!
